Yesman[1] is a large enemy in the Kirby series, debuting in Kirby: Planet Robobot. It only appears during the battle with President Haltmann. It cannot be inhaled.

Physical Appearance[]

Yesman is a large, imposing robot manufactured by the Haltmann Works Company. Its body is diamond-shaped and plated in gold, with some purple metal showing underneath. It has a purple visor for a face, a white shirt and purple necktie painted on the front of its chest, and gold antennae protruding from the top of its head. At its sides are two broad shoulders, below which float two disconnected, massive fists.

In Meta Knightmare Returns, Yesman is mostly black in color, with gold plating on its head and fists. Its front is printed to have a gold shirt and black necktie.

Games[]

Kirby: Planet Robobot[]

Yesman is a minion of the boss President Haltmann. During the second phase of the battle, he creates one and leaves it to defeat Kirby. The enemy slowly slides up to the hero, charges up an uppercut, and swiftly releases it. This is a short-ranged attack. The robot then performs another uppercut followed by a downward slam using both fists. After this, President Haltmann signals for it to desist; Yesman shuts down and self-destructs, which can hurt Kirby if he is caught in the blast. Yesmen are deployed in the third and fourth phases as well, though they are immediately destroyed by Haltmann's own lasers in the latter.

Yesman is a particularly durable enemy. It does not flinch when struck by most attacks, and due to its short time limit before self-destruction, only an onslaught of powerful moves can defeat it. The Hammer and Smash Bros. abilities are ideal for this purpose.

In Meta Knightmare Returns, Yesman acts the same way. President Haltmann 2.0 produces one in the second phase, four in the third phase, and four in the fourth phase (which are then defeated).

Etymology[]

Yesman's name is a pun on the word yes-man, a person who always agrees with a superior. This fits with Yesman's position as a minion to President Haltmann as well as matching the Haltmann Works Company's business motif.
