— Official Kirby and the Forgotten Land microsite |
Waddle Dee Town is a location in the Kirby series, debuting in Kirby and the Forgotten Land.
General Information[]
Waddle Dee Town serves as a hub world of sorts in Kirby and the Forgotten Land, where the player can choose to head to the world map or return after an adventure. As its name implies, its inhabitants seemingly consist nearly entirely of Waddle Dees.
The town is first seen in ruins at the end of Point of Arrival. After Kirby frees Elfilin from a cage, he explains that he helped the Waddle Dees to settle into the town when they were pulled into the New World, but they were all captured by the Beast Pack and the town destroyed. As the player rescues Waddle Dees while playing the game, they will return to the town to rebuild and expand. Some establishments require a certain amount of Waddle Dees to be rebuilt, while others are available after making progress in the story. With these establishments come sub-games or other services.
Point of Arrival can be returned to from Waddle Dee Town by using a Warp Star located in its southernmost region.
Establishments[]
Kirby's House[]
Kirby's house is a home built for him in Waddle Dee Town and requires 50 Waddle Dees to unlock. After it is built, Kirby can do the following activities inside:
- Sleep to regain full health.
- Read a book with information about Kirby's past adventures (going back from Kirby Fighters 2 to Kirby: Triple Deluxe).
- Look at pictures to commemorate previous achievements.
- Display his Collection of figurines from Capsules.
Waddle Dee Café[]
The Waddle Dee Café is a small restaurant in Waddle Dee Town that requires 60 Waddle Dees to unlock. Here, the player can order food to regain health; these items can be eaten at the restaurant or taken to go as stock items. The restaurant serves Car-Mouth Cakes, Kirby Burgers, Energy Drinks, and Maxim Tomatoes. After buying ten food items, Kirby is awarded the Café-Manager Waddle Dee Gotcha Capsule.
Waddle Dee Café: Help Wanted![]
Kirby can take on a part-time job working at the café. The goal of this minigame is for Kirby (and Bandana Waddle Dee in Co-op Gig) to serve as many Waddle Dees as they can within the 50 second time limit. Waddle Dee orders appear as speech bubbles, and may not be immediately obvious, fading or wiping in. Throughout the minigame, Kirby must keep the satisifaction meter from emptying, otherwise the Waddle Dees will angrily storm out and Kirby will lose the minigame. The satisfaction meter decreases as long as Kirby isn't serving a Waddle Dee. During the last 20 seconds, a Lunch Rush will occur where Waddle Dees arrive at a faster rate, the satisfaction meter will decrease quicker, and the second Waddle Dee in line's order will be visible. Serving a Waddle Dee the correct food raises the satisfaction meter, while getting the order wrong lowers it. There are three difficulties to play on: Easy Gig, Hustle Gig, and Frenzy Gig; the latter two being unlocked upon completing the Easy Gig.
In the Easy Gig, only Maxim Tomatoes and Energy Drinks are served. Hustle Gig adds the Car-Mouth Cake and has the satisfaction meter decrease at a faster rate. Frenzy Gig adds the Kirby Burgers and the meter decreases even quicker. Upon clearing Frenzy Gig, Kirby is awarded the Café-Staff Kirby Gotcha Capsule.
Waddle Dee's Weapons Shop[]
Waddle Dee's Weapons Shop is a workshop where Kirby can give blueprints to Weapons-Shop Waddle Dee to upgrade Kirby's Copy Abilities. Each upgrade costs a number of Star Coins and Rare Stones. After clearing the main story, Weapons-Shop Waddle Dee will also offer to further power up the existing abilities in exchange for Rare Stones. The player can set which variant of an ability to use from the shop, and acquire the abilities from their mannequins. There is a training room to the far right of the building where Kirby can test out his Copy Abilities on Mr. Sandbag. After collecting all of the blueprints and buying all of the upgrades, Kirby will get the Weapons-Shop Waddle Dee Gotcha Capsule.
The Weapons Shop will open after clearing The Brawl at the Mall.
Waddle Dee-liveries[]
Main article: Present Codes |
Waddle Dee-liveries is a post office where the player can speak to the clerk to redeem Present Codes for bonus items. Presents are delivered to Kirby's House. If the player is not connected to the internet, they can only use Present Codes found in Waddle Dee Town. After redeeming six Present Codes, Kirby will get the Delivery Waddle Dee Gotcha Capsule.
Waddle Dee Cinema[]
The Waddle Dee Cinema allows the player to rewatch cutscenes and credits. It opens as soon as the player clears Downtown Grassland. Upon unlocking all cutscenes, Kirby will get the Usher Waddle Dee Gotcha Capsule upon entry of the cinema.
Colosseum[]
“ | Wwwwwelcome to the Colosseum! If you're here to enter a tournament, you came to the right spot!” |
— Commentator Waddle Dee • Kirby and the Forgotten Land |
The Colosseum sits atop a small cliff overlooking Waddle Dee Town. It allows Kirby to enter a fighting tournament with previous mid-bosses and bosses, akin to that of The Arena and The Ultimate Choice in previous games (with the final cup being equivalent to The True Arena and Soul Melter (EX)). It is also the only area where Meta Knight, Phantom Meta Knight, and Chaos Elfilis can be fought.
The Colosseum is unlocked after completing Danger under the Big Top. Kirby must register for a tournament with Commentator Waddle Dee at the reception desk outside; he will prompt the player to select a difficulty level, affecting which bosses appear and how many must be fought.
Each difficulty level gives a reward upon completion, with higher difficulty levels yielding greater prizes. The player may bring whatever Stock Item they currently have as well as receive item buffs before actually entering the tournament. If Kirby is defeated, he can pay Star Coins to retry from the same level though stock items won't be recovered, and the cost will increase in consecutive retries.
Meta Knight Cup[]
The Meta Knight Cup is available immediately when the Colosseum is unlocked. All of the bosses shown below are fought in random order, except for Meta Knight who is always fought last. Beating this difficulty level gives Kirby 500 Star Coins and 1 Rare Stone, as well as the Meta Knight Sword blueprints when it's beaten for the first time. There will be 6 Maxim Tomatoes, with a normal tomato replacing them if used in the previous room, and two random Copy Essences.
- Mid-Boss All Stars 1 (Wild Frosty and Wild Bonkers)
- Mid-Boss All Stars 2 (Wild Edge and Fleurina)
- Gorimondo
- Tropic Woods
- Clawroline
- Meta Knight
The Ultimate Cup[]
The Ultimate Cup is unlocked after completing the Meta Knight Cup and defeating Fecto Elfilis in Lab Discovera. Beating this difficulty level gives Kirby 1,500 Star Coins and 1 Rare Stone, as well as the Fecto Elfilis Gotcha Capsule when it's beaten for the first time. There will be 6 Maxim Tomatoes, with a normal tomato replacing them if used in the previous room, and two random Copy Essences.
The first eight bosses are fought in random order:
- Mid-Boss All Stars 1 (Wild Frosty and Wild Bonkers)
- Mid-Boss All Stars 2 (Wild Edge and Fleurina)
- Gorimondo
- Tropic Woods
- Clawroline
- Meta Knight
- King Dedede
- Sillydillo
The last four are fought in a set order:
The Ultimate Cup Z[]
The Ultimate Cup Z is unlocked after clearing The Ultimate Cup and Isolated Isles: Forgo Dreams. Beating this difficulty level gives Kirby 2,500 Star Coins and 3 Rare Stones, as well as the Chaos Elfilis Gotcha Capsule after beating it for the first time. There will be 6 tomatoes and one random Copy Essence that grants random abilities except for Sleep.
The first seven bosses are fought in random order:
- Mid-Boss All Stars 1 (Wild Frosty and Wild Bonkers)
- Mid-Boss All Stars 2 (Wild Edge and Fleurina)
- Phantom Gorimondo
- Phantom Tropic Woods
- Phantom Clawroline
- Phantom King Dedede
- Phantom Sillydillo
The last five are fought in a set order:
Gotcha Machine Alley[]
Gotcha Machine Alley is a small section of Waddle Dee Town that contains capsule machines that Kirby can spend Star Coins on to receive a figurine. As the player progresses and is introduced to new volumes of capsules, new machines will also appear in the alley.
- Volume 1 capsules cost 10 Star Coins.
- Volume 2 capsules cost 20 Star Coins.
- Volume 3 capsules cost 50 Star Coins.
- Volume 4 capsules cost 100 Star Coins.
After completing Ultimate Cup Z in the Colosseum, Trader Waddle Dee will appear in front of the alley and will offer to trade one capsule that Kirby has not yet obtained in exchange for a Rare Stone, except the special capsules obtained from town. If the player has completed the figurine collection, Trader Waddle Dee will still offer to trade a random figure for a Rare Stone.
Fishing Pond[]
A small fishing spot where Kirby and Bandana Dee can fish for Blippers. The greater the size of the catch, the greater the Star Coin reward. A commemorative photo is also placed near the pond showing the player's best catch.
In order to catch a fish, the player has to press the prompted buttons quickly. The last button the player has to press is always the top button. Larger fish demand faster reaction times. Pressing a wrong button will result in Kirby catching garbage, while not pressing the button in time pulls Kirby into the pond. The Blipper size will vary depending on how many times Kirby can consecutively fish Blippers. If Kirby fails to successfully fish a Blipper on the tier he's on, he will revert to the previous tier until the Blipper from the previous tier is successfully fished:
- Tiny Blipper: 1 Star Coin, starting size. Requires 1 button.
- Small Blipper: 1 Star Coin, requires fishing one tiny Blipper. Requires 2 buttons.
- Normal Blipper: 5 Star Coins, requires fishing one small Blipper. Requires 3 buttons.
- Large Blipper: 10 Star Coins, requires fishing one normal Blipper. Requires 4 buttons.
- Giant Blipper: 30 Star Coins, rarely appears at random after fishing one large Blipper. Requires 4 buttons.
- Bling Blipper: 500 Star Coins, uncommonly appears at random after fishing one large Blipper. Requires 7 buttons. Upon collecting this Blipper for the first time, Kirby will be rewarded with the Fishing-Pond Kirby Gotcha Capsule.
The pond will only be accessible after rescuing 155 Waddle Dees.
Waddle Dee's Item Shop[]
A store that is located above Waddle Dee Café. The store sells items that will temporary provide a boost to Kirby's attack, movement or health:
- Life Up: Heals Kirby to full health and gives him a second health bar. Costs 300 Star Coins.
- Attack Boost: Increases Kirby's attack power by 50% for 200 seconds. Can stack for up to 999 seconds. Costs 150 Star Coins.
- Speed Boost: Increases Kirby's movement speed by 30% for 200 seconds. Can stack for up to 999 seconds. Costs 150 Star Coins.
After buying five power-ups, Kirby is awarded the Item-Shop Waddle Dee Gotcha Capsule.
The store will only open after rescuing 145 Waddle Dees.
Tilt-and-Roll Kirby[]
A sub-game tent found right beside the Item Shop; the tent will require Kirby to pay Star Coins to play Tilt-and-Roll Kirby using the Switch's motion sensors in order to move a Kirby ball to the goal. After clearing the normal difficulties, Kirby will get the Game-Shop Waddle Dee Gotcha Capsule and a new Extra Hard version for all three stages will appear. After clearing these three Extra Hard stages, the Game-Shop Waddle Dee will award Kirby with three Rare Stones.
Normal difficulty boards cost 1 Star Coin to play, while Extra Hard difficulty boards cost 5 Star Coins to play. Extra Hard boards are the same as normal boards, but with various walls removed and added Gordos that causes the player to lose if a Kirby ball comes into contact with them. Extra Hard boards also have a one-time reward for clearing them within a specified time.
The tent will only open after rescuing 180 Waddle Dees.
Others[]
Warp Star[]
The Warp Star sits at the center of Waddle Dee Town. It allows the player to leave Waddle Dee town and head to the world map. A second warp star is found at the town's front and will take the player to Arrival Point. After Fecto Elfilis is defeated, a third Warp Star is found at the Observation Tower, which allows entrance into Isolated Isles: Forgo Dreams.
Wise Waddle Dee[]
Wise Waddle Dee is a Waddle Dee that sits on a bench to the right of the Warp Star. He will inform the player of any missing blueprints in stages. Additionally, he may provide additional statistics for the player such as the enemies defeated, popular Copy Abilities and other miscellaneous information. After talking to Wise Waddle Dee enough times, he will give Kirby a Gotcha Capsule of himself.
Waddle Live! Corner Stage[]
Once Kirby has cleared the main story, a band of four Waddle Dees called The Deedly Dees will begin performing near the Theater. Initially, the amount of tracks they play is limited, but their list can be increased if the player donates more Star Coins to the band. 1,000 Star Coins can be donated to upgrade the initial stage, and 2,000 Star Coins can be donated to upgrade the stage again after Isolated Isles: Forgo Dreams is cleared. Donating the 2,000 Star Coins and thus unlocking all music tracks will give Kirby the The Deedly Dees Gotcha Capsule.
King Dedede[]
After clearing the main story, King Dedede will be found with three Waddle Dees at a bench near the Colosseum. A Waddle Dee known as "Minion Waddle Dee" will speak in his stead. This Waddle Dee will gift the Masked Hammer blueprint to Kirby the first time he is spoken to.

Trivia[]
- If Kirby attempts to inhale any of the Waddle Dee inhabitants (including Bandana Waddle Dee in single-player mode), they will stop what they're doing and cower. If the player attacks Waddle Dees through other methods, they will fall over and play dead before getting back up and resuming what they were doing after a waving at Kirby or panicking at him to not attack them again.
- Waddle Dees will respond to emotes used by Kirby by pressing up or left on the +Control Pad.
- The Waddle Dee Café is based on the Kirby Café, a real-world restaurant themed around the Kirby franchise; the Kirby Burgers made their debut in this restaurant.
- Unlike the Boss Endurance modes in previous games, the events that happen in the Colosseum are deemed canon to the main storyline, and thus marks the first time where a Boss Endurance mode is canon.
- It is also the second time to feature more than one boss exclusive to such mode in one game, with the first being Kirby Star Allies' The Ultimate Choice.
- According to Elfilin, the reason the Beast Pack do not attack the town a second time is because Meta Knight is guarding it.
