About Me

Hey there. I'm Paul, a 19-year-old avid gamer/music listener/on-and-off artist.

As an admin, I mainly patrol the recent activity and do general cleanup work most of the time. I tend to become more active around game releases, as that's when we need the most help around here, but I try to maintain consistent activity and engage in projects and discussions with the community. I've been around here for a long time, so if you're new here and need assistance, feel free to ask me about anything.

You can find me on the Kirby Wiki Discord, which I founded. Just ask me for the link and I can give it to you! (I'm Therater2#6495.)

This is a basic list of tasks I hope to complete so I can have my thoughts gathered. This is going to be under construction for a while.

  • Kirby's Dream Course levels?
  • Revamp/standardize soundtrack pages and information
  • Changing all of the uses on the wiki of the term 'copy ability' to 'Copy Ability'

  • Finishing the KatRC pages
  • Make a table for the items page
  • Update/Add Animal Friends' ability pics for KDL3 and eventually KDL2
  • Add Kirby: Planet Robobot pages
  • Add Robobot Mode descriptions and move lists to Copy Ability pages
  • Help complete the Secret area page
  • Finish the Drag Race and other Stadium pages (images)
  • Get the three move pages done
  • Dialogue template
  • 10th Anniversary stuff
  • KBB items
  • Work and articles and stuff for KBR and KSA.
  • Standardize the format of game pages to some extent

Games I Own/Game Reviews

Here, I'll list the Kirby games that I own. My opinions and ratings for these games will be included here as well.

I've gotten rather lazy in updating this, unfortunately, and some of the reviews may be outdated. I'm unsure if I'll get around to rewriting these in the near future.

Game Review Score
Kirby's Dream Land KDL is a dated, yet nostalgic and fun look at Kirby's roots. It's well worth playing, and while the main mode is lacking in difficulty (and is quite short in length, a fact that is the game's main detraction), the extra game can be pretty fun. This one's most likely worth it; while most certainly imperfect, it's definitely essential for a Kirby fan. 6 out of 10
Kirby's Dream Land 2 I don't understand people who say that the entirety of the Kirby series is easy; obviously they haven't tried to collect all of the Rainbow Drops in this game, which is certainly a tough task without a guide. The addition of Animal Friends was unique and interesting. In short, this one is a classic of the Kirby catalog that shouldn't be overlooked. 7.5 out of 10
Kirby's Block Ball This is an okay, if somewhat bland, breakout style game. Really, there's not too much to talk about here- the gameplay can get a bit tedious. The breakout mechanics are fine here, but there's just not much reason to get this game over any other puzzle game. Also, on a final note, the music will DEFINITELY get on your nerves if you leave the sound on. Not terrible, just not really distinctive. 5 out of 10
Kirby's Star Stacker Kirby's Star Stacker is a Dr. Mario-like puzzle game with the twist of... well... there aren't really any twists, actually. In the Round Clear mode, most of the difficulty modes are pretty easy to beat with the exception of Insane. I spend less time on the Challenge and Time Attack modes, but both of them can also entertain you for a little while. Its gameplay can be entertaining, it's rather uninspired. 6 out of 10
Kirby Air Ride Honestly, this is one of the best, if not the best, racing games for the GameCube. While the Air Ride mode is also enjoyable, with its well-designed races, I find City Trial to be my favorite mode in the game; gotta love the mad dash of collecting Patches and sabotaging friends. Top Ride was pretty weak- they should have improved upon the other two modes instead of creating this one. The controls are simplistic, but they work for the most part. Finally, the addition of Copy Abilities is uniquely Kirby, and greatly helps the game. All in all, a very good racer! 9 out of 10
Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble A surprisingly fun gimmick. I wasn't expecting too much from Tilt 'n' Tumble, but it exceeded my expectations and turned out to be pretty enjoyable, once you get used to the controls. Sure, it could be frustrating occasionally, but I guess I'm the type of person who doesn't mind that too much. 7 out of 10
Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land An improved version of the already-great NES classic, I really enjoyed this remake, with Meta Knightmare (and some other pretty fun sub-games) added to boot. While there are some nitpicks I could make, KNiDL still remains a pretty awesome and fun experience. 8 out of 10
Kirby & The Amazing Mirror I firmly believe that this was the greatest Kirby game (Before KRtDL). The maze aspect of this game is what makes it unique in the series. It adds mystery and challenge to already great gameplay. To me, the moments where the maze is confusing are few, though. The treasures are hard to find/get in some cases but they are usually rewarding! The aspect of playing with friends (Or with CPUs, but even they can be cool) is nice. Finally, the Copy Ability lineup in this game is one of the coolest in the series- rare abilities like Master, Smash, UFO and Missile are truly awesome. I gotta say, this game's nearly perfect! 10 out of 10
Kirby: Canvas Curse I used to have mixed feelings on this game (due to it not really being a platformer), but today I believe it is a great game. Why? Well, the art style is great, to start. The concept of Medals stands out in my mind as my favorite collectible of the whole series, as you can use them to unlock secrets in a shop! The controls are fairly intuitive and simple, though I feel they could have probably made a better use of the Nintendo DS's face buttons at some points. As usual, Copy Abilities bring the gameplay to another level. The main game is overall pretty fun, as the stage designs are really cool. The boss system is a bit strange (Choose your boss? Only three bosses for six levels?), but the battles are fun. Finally, the sub-games are also fun (especially Block Attack, which plays like a greatly improved KBB) Overall, KCC is another fine game! 8 out of 10
Kirby: Squeak Squad This could have been better than it was, I gotta say. However, I do remember having a lot of fun with this one when it was released- the Animal and Ghost abilities, the cool final boss, the helpful Copy Palette, Strawberry Shortcake and even at some points the Squeaks are all cool notches this game has made in the series. Despite these nice additions, the game is bogged down quite a few problems. First and foremost, the level designs were often unmemorable and often short, especially in comparison to KaTAM's vast lands. Second, though I said the Squeaks were a good addition, I feel that they would have been better had they been used a bit more sparsely. It sometimes felt as if you were forced to fight one of them every other stage, and that got tedious. Overall, the game felt like somewhat of a rushed effort, but it did have its good moments. 7 out of 10
Kirby Super Star Ultra Boy, was game truly was an awesome place to start being a true Kirby fan. There is simply a TON of great content. The greatest sub-games in this expansive set, including Milky Way Wishes, The Great Cave Offensive, Revenge of the King and Revenge of Meta Knight, rank as some of my favorite moments in the entire series. The game introduces so many classic elements to the series (Galacta Knight, The True Arena, and Marx Soul to name just a few!). I spent many hours going through these different modes and trying to 100% complete it. There are also many great Copy Abilities in this game that can't be found in any other installment, adding to the 'exclusive' feel the game retains to this day. There are a few minor gripes I have that keep it from being a perfect game, however. The Dyna Blade sub-game, aside from introducing the Dyna Blade character and from being the next step up from Spring Breeze, feels very non-essential, despite the fact that it was in the original KSS. Gourmet Race, while a pleasant enough bit of fluff, was a little unmemorable in the end. Despite these flaws, this remains an incredible game! 10 out of 10
