This article is about the ability. For the enemy you get the ability from see UFO (enemy).

WOW! I'm so lucky I copied a UFO! I can do four different moves. It all depends on how long you hold B!

UFO is one of Kirby's rarest copy abilities. It allows Kirby to become a flying saucer! With a variety of attacks and permanent flight, however, it will only last for one stage and once Kirby exits that stage, it's gone (except in Kirby: Squeak Squad where he can keep it like a normal ability). One other downside is it can't go down ladders or drop through floors and must be discarded to continue past these areas.

The design for UFO hasn't changed much. The top of Kirby's head protrudes from a classic saucer shape with spinning orbs on the bottom. Only his eyes are visible.

Attacks and Features

Kirby's Adventure, Kirby: Nightmare in Dreamland, and Kirby and the Amazing Mirror

UFO Kirby can float in the air better than Cupid (without losing any altitude). It has 4 different attacks, (which was a first of it's kind when it first appeared in Kirby's Adventure), all determined by the length of time the attack button is pressed. While attack button is being held and Kirby is charging he can't turn around but can still move in any direction.

Attack button (tap) = Kirby shoots out an energy beam, similiar to Beam.

Attack button (short) = Kirby shoots out a small laser that ricochetes off hills, similiar to Laser.

Attack button held (medium) = Kirby shoots out a stronger laser. It will not bounce, like the one before, but is much more powerful. In its original appearance in Kirby's Adventure Kirby instead shot out a star.

Attack button held (full power) = Kirby shoots out a massive laser beam that goes through walls, enemies, and reinforced blocks. It is very powerful. In the original this was a double star.

Kirby's Dream Course

Unlike other games, the UFO has a time limit of 10 seconds of flight and can be steered left or right at 90 deg. angles. If Kirby moves into an area of lower elevation, he maintains his current altitude but if he hits a slope, he will climb to the top. Hitting a wall, will cancel the ability and the ability can be manually canceled by hitting B again (in case you fly over the hole). If Kirby flies out of bounds, he can fly back in and save himself but if time runs out, he will fall and lose a life.

In Kirby Squeak Squad

In Kirby: Squeak Squad, the Copy Scroll for UFO gives Kirby an energy ball that will constantly orbit around him, destroying any enemy or Star Block. Also in this game, UFO can be taken into any stage and isn't lost after the stage is completed or exited.

Trivia

In Kirby & the Amazing Mirror, UFO Kirby calls his friends using a dish instead of a cell phone.
