Togezo, also known as Spiney, is an enemy that provides Kirby with the Needle ability. Togezo has appeared in some of the earlier games in the series. Togezo first appeared in Kirby's Adventure and then made its second appearance in Kirby's Dream Course. Their third and so far final appearance in Kirby's Dream Land 3. In Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land, Togezo was replaced by Needlous - a monster which mimicked Togezo's attacks from that game. He resembles a turtle with a spiked shell and two feet. The only difference between the two is purely cosmetic, as Needlous is a worm-like creature and Togezo is clearly a turtle monster. Togezo has never appeared in another Kirby game since Kirby's Dream Land 3.

In the games he did appear in, Togezo would curl up into a ball for defense in certain intervals; in Kirby's Adventure, it will also roll vigorously around in an attempt to impale Kirby with its spiked shell.

In the anime, a Demon Beast called Togeira resembles a Togezo, although Togeira has a less turtle-like appearance.

Trivia

  • Togezo's shell and previous name heavily resemble those of the Mario enemy Spiny. Coincidentally, Togezo is Spiny's Japanese name.
  • Rolling Turtle, Capsule J, Togezo, and Bounder are currently the only enemies to have been replaced by other enemies in their respective game's remake.
  • Togezo looks like an enemy from the super mario bros. series called spiny.
