Kirby Wiki

The Wastes Where Life Began is the twenty-second stage in Kirby and the Forgotten Land. It is the first stage of Originull Wasteland. It succeeds An Unexpected Beast King and precedes Searching the Oasis.

General Information[]

Kirby arrives on a dusty desert, with sand blocking most of the view. After walking forward past a hole, he will enter a wasteland landscape with multiple cargo boxes Kirby will have to jump on top of to get to the next path. Around this area, Primal Awoofies will replace Awoofies as the basic enemy. Kirby will first encounter one in the hole mentioned earlier, then he will encounter two of them next to a Bernard. Afterwards, Kirby will encounter a Sssnacker. Behind the Sssnacker is a Treasure Chest guarding a Collect piece. Following this, Kirby will come across an open area with multiple Collect pieces and other collectibles. Their locations are:

  • On the eastern side, where Kirby must press 4 Switches while jumping across moving platforms over poison to make the piece appear.
  • In a Treasure Chest in a sand dune, requiring Kirby to use Ring Mouth or Tornado to clear the sand. A Gotcha Capsule can be found in a nearby dune.
  • On the west side, in which Kirby must use Ring Mouth or Tornado to activate 3 Fans.
  • On the ruined ship, spawned after defeating Fleurina. Another Gotcha Capsule can also be found nearby.

After obtaining all 5 Collect pieces, a staircase appears, leading to the first hidden Waddle Dee, which is in a container box in the northeastern platform. At the end of the area, there is a Warp Star that will take Kirby to the next area.

The second area is mostly linear, and Kirby has to traverse a path while avoiding be crushed by falling pillars. At the end of the pathway, there is a staircase leading right to a smaller route that contains another ring that Kirby can again use Mouthful Mode on. If Kirby backtracks a bit and blows wind onto the sand-supported pillar, it will fall on a cracked flooring, revealing a treasure chest with a Waddle Dee in it. After going up another right-facing staircase, Kirby can blow wind onto another pillar trapped by a dune to make it fall on another cracked flooring, revealing a hidden door. Inside, Kirby will have to move right and jump above gaps while also avoiding being crushed by the falling pillars. A Gotcha Capsule lies halfway along the route. At the end of the path are three sand-supported pillars that Kirby will have to blow away, and then jump right to avoid them. Behind the pillars is a Star Coin pile and a Waddle Dee. After recovering these, he can continue back to the main path.

After Kirby leaves the room and returns to the second area, he will have to climb up some steel beams in order to get to a large bridge, which then connects the two halves of the canyon together. After reaching the other end of the canyon, Kirby will have to traverse through another Sssnacker and more pillars before reaching a ladder. After climbing it, Kirby will reach the gold cage with three Waddle Dees in it. Collecting it frees the Waddle Dees and completes the stage.

Secret area[]

At the end of the final area, Kirby can enter a broken part of the fence to enter the hotel, and then into an abandoned building. Inside, there is a Primal Awoofy, a Sir Kibble, and a Needlous. In the room, another puzzle can be solved: Kirby must collect 5 more Collect pieces to unlock a secret treasure vault containing food, Star Coins, and a Gotcha Capsule. An orange Warp Star in the area takes Kirby back to the final main area.

Missions[]

Italicized missions are hidden from view on the player's first playthrough.

  • Clear the stage: When Kirby clears the stage for the first time, he will automatically rescue 3 Waddle Dee prisoners from the golden cage.
  • Find the hidden Waddle Dees: 3 Waddle Dee prisoners can be found here, their locations being the following:
    • Behind a gate in the first area requiring Kirby to collect 5 collect pieces.
    • In a treasure chest under cracked flooring which Kirby must cause a pillar to fall down on.
    • Behind the 3 pillars in the sub-area.
  • Shoot 3 Flying Targets: In the first area, 3 Flying Targets are hidden around the windy landscape. They must be shot down with the Ranger ability. Their locations are:
    • Above a shipping crate on the rightmost side of the map.
    • Above the ground in the middle of the area; Kirby may stand on a maroon box to see it better.
    • Behind the first of the falling pillars along the path; Kirby must make it fall down to be able to shoot the target. Shooting this target also spawns a Gotcha Capsule.
  • Defeat the lost Squishy: Along the bottom-left side of the first area, Kirby can find a lone Squishy nearby two food items. Kirby must defeat it to complete the mission.
  • Defeat Fleurina using Ring Mouth: After finding the Ring Mouth in the first area along the path heading to the west, Kirby can bring it over to the Fleurina fight by making a jump to a tall rock and onto the platform. If Kirby defeats Fleurina by using the Ring Mouth, the mission is completed.

Blueprint[]

The Crystal Needle Blueprint is found on the platform where Kirby fights Fleurina in the first area. It is found in a treasure chest on the western part of the platform. The Blueprint can be used to evolve the Needle ability at Waddle Dee's Weapons Shop.

Trivia[]

  • There are dried-up corals dotting the landscape on this stage, along with the cargo ships run aground. These support the idea that the wasteland is a dried-up seabed.
