The Beast Pack's Final Stand is the thirty-first stage in Kirby and the Forgotten Land. It's the fifth stage of Redgar Forbidden Lands. It succeeds Gathering of the Beast Council and precedes In the Presence of the King.
General Information[]
This stage acts as the final normal stage of the game, featuring many Mouthful Modes and enemies. At the beginning of the stage, Kirby will land outside of a ruined power plant. He must then climb far down a ladder going underground, landing on a large rectangular platform. Once he steps on a large chunk of the platform, it will suddenly start descending diagonally, going deeper underground. The platform then stops, and a wall in front of Kirby opens up to reveal various enemies. Defeating them all rewards the player with a Star Coin pile. Kirby will then have to walk on grates above lava, with some fireballs emerging and landing on the grates. Next, Kirby must use Scissor-Lift Mouth to cross some tracks. However, large fireballs will constantly emerge from lava and fly over the tracks, limiting the height Kirby can be in some spots. One spot even has 3 fireballs emerge in a row to block Kirby's path. After this, there is a set of five fireballs in a row with only a small grate as cover. A Gotcha Capsule can be obtained above the grate, though this puts Kirby in danger of being hit by the fireball. A ledge can be found after, which Kirby can extend towards to find a dark corridor. Treading down the hallway leads to the next section.
After walking forward a bit, a gate will close the entrance, locking Kirby in the room. In the center of the room, several Rabiroos circle around a massive Poison Croakom. A Waddle Dee is stuck above the Poison Croakoms. Passing it leads to a long series of platforms, with every other set of platforms being split into two. A Poison Croakom above will spit poison onto one of the two platforms, alternating between the left and right platforms. The next set of platforms contains moving rectangular platforms alternating between sets of 3 platforms. Two of the platforms in each set of 3 will constantly be covered by poison from two above Poison Croakoms. After crossing the lava, Kirby can find a leaking pipe from which he can obtain Water-Balloon Mouth. He can then spray water on the Poison Croakoms on the higher platforms, easily defeating them, before reaching the first Poison Croakom. Defeating it causes the platform it was on to raise, allowing easy access to rescuing the Waddle Dee. After saving them, Kirby can leave through the entrance door.
Instead of forcing Kirby to go back to the beginning, the section Kirby was just in sinks into the lava, revealing a new path ahead. Here, Kirby should use Vending Mouth to destroy Durable Blocks along the way. Destroying a Durable Block on the left causes a pillar to fall into the lava, allowing Kirby to hit a Switch which causes a nearby wall to begin moving. The wall acts as a shield against fireballs which frequently emerge from the lava. A similar Switch can be found atop another falling pillar, which causes 2 moving walls to shield Kirby from the fireballs. Before discarding the vending machine shortly after, Kirby can destroy some Durable Blocks under a set of stairs to allow himself to reach the stairs. Kirby can then use Stairs Mouth to reach a high ledge after waiting for a giant fireball to pass. Atop the ledge is a Waddle Dee. After rescuing them and heading to the right, Kirby must fight a Buffahorn before using Storage Mouth to open an entrance.
Inside, Kirby can once again see a Waddle Dee high above the ground, this time floating above a Gnawcodile surrounded by Walfs. Kirby can then venture forward through a flooded section filled with whirlpools, Gnawcodiles, and occasional platforms. After swimming for some time, Kirby will come across a ring and a boat, allowing him to use Ring Mouth to steer back towards the entrance. He can carefully sail between whirlpools before reaching cracked ground between him and the first Gnawcodile. After destroying the ground and defeating the Gnawcodile, a platform will rise from underwater, allowing Kirby to reach the Waddle Dee. He can then head back through the entrance, though a Bomber will attempt to fall on him and explode.
Once outside, the previous section will once again collapse into the lava below. This reveals a lone archway, permitting Kirby to use Arch Mouth in a long gliding segment. However, several enemies will ambush Kirby as he approaches the arch. Defeating them allows Kirby to inhale the arch and soar over the lava, constantly activating Fans to open doorways. Briefly after passing 2 Digguhs, Kirby can find a hole in a wall on the left to find a Gotcha Capsule and some Star Coin rings. Right after, Kirby will have to activate several Fans in quick succession while dodging meteors to spawn in some Star Coin rings and a Waddle Dee. The player can then see land ahead, though walls quickly begin closing from above to lock Kirby out. He must squeeze through under the third part of the wall to make it. Once he lands and discards the arch, Kirby must proceed to the right while taking cover from the fiery debris a Big Red Tortuilding spits out. After jumping atop a Tortorner to reach a higher ledge, he can inhale a cone to receive Cone Mouth. If he ground pounds the nearby Tortorner, he will be rewarded with a Gotcha Capsule. After Kirby heads back to the left, he should break open a cracked pipe to be launched high up, allowing him to jump to a leaning pillar. Once he jumps on it, it will begin to fall, and Kirby should quickly jump and ground pound the Big Red Tortuilding before falling into the lava. This will defeat it and cause the goal to appear, allowing Kirby to clear the stage.
Missions[]
Italicized missions are hidden from view on the player's first playthrough.
- Clear the stage: When Kirby clears the stage for the first time, he will automatically rescue 3 Waddle Dee prisoners from the golden cage.
- Save the hidden Waddle Dees: 5 Waddle Dee prisoners can be found here, their locations being the following:
- Atop a pillar in the Scissor-Lift Mouth section, with 3 fireballs constantly hitting the side of the pillar.
- Above a Poison Croakom in the second section.
- On the ledge requiring Stairs Mouth to reach them.
- High above a Gnawcodile in the fourth section.
- In the Ring Mouth section, spawned after hitting several Fans in quick succession.
- Defeat all the beasts in the starting area: If Kirby defeats every enemy in the first underground room, the mission will be completed.
- Remove 5 beast-base wanted posters: 5 wanted posters can be found within the base, their locations being:
- Shortly after the starting area, on a wall in the lava-grate section.
- In the second section, seen on the left wall near the entrance after flipping the perspective.
- Hanging off of a platform seen behind the set of stairs.
- On a coil in the Ring Mouth room, immediately visible on the right after the perspective flips.
- Near the end of the stage, above a Tortorner.
- Don't fall in the lava while using Cone Mouth: Kirby must avoid falling in the lava while using Cone Mouth to complete the mission; this is made more difficult by some sinking platforms activated by Kirby landing on them.
