Etymology
Tamasan's name, タマサン (Tamasan), comes from the Japanese word for ball/sphere, たま/球 (tama); and the onyomi pronunciation for Japanese word for three, さん/三 (san). This refers to how its body is made of three spheres. Its name may also incorporate the common honorific, さん (-san), which approximately translates to "Mr." or "Ms." in English.
