:The way I see it, the Sectonia Clone fight is a part of the Star Dream battle, and can't count as an appearance of the real Queen Sectonia (at least, as far as categories go). Same goes with Dark Matter. The Holo bosses should also probably only count as a part of Holo Defense API, and not as true appearances of Ice Dragon, Coily Rattler, etc. Sure they may be mentioned on the pages of what they are cloned from, but I don't think that the category should be added to those pages.

Forum Migrations to Discussions
  +
I received a message from FANDOM's Community Development regarding an upcoming feature on Wikia. Here's the important part of the message:
  +
  +
I'm not sure if we ever asked you guys if you are interested in turning on the Discussions feature for the Downton community, and migrating the Threaded Forums across as well. This is in very early preparation for the new game that's coming out next year.
  +
  +
In case you are unaware of the feature (which you probably are, but here's here's the spiel just in case), Discussions was introduced last year to help communities engage with users and fans. It lives in its own space on the wiki and allows users to interact with other members of the community. It is also mobile friendly and gives mobile users a chance to contribute and engage with the community, and possibly turn them into wiki editors as well. Discussions also links with our FANDOM Apps, which this community has, and it allows app users to easily take part in Discussions as well. You can read more about Discussions here.
  +
  +
For more information on migrating forums to Discussions, you can check out this blog over on Community Central that explains everything in detail.
  +
  +
If you have some concerns, Discussions, and Forums can exist side-by-side in case you do not want to migrate just yet. However, eventually all Forums will be migrated over to Discussions and Forums will be sunsetted as a feature, so getting ahead of the curve is never a bad idea.
  +
  +
Feel free to have an open discussion with your community/admins about this, and I'm available with any questions you might have. Have a good one!
  +
  +
How do you guys feel about this? :::There appears to be only minor differences between Discussions and Forums. Discussions appear to be a more modernized variant of our not-so-frequently-used-anymore Forums. == Important Kirby Battle Royale Precaution ==
  +
  +

  +
As you guys know, Kirby Battle Royale launches in Europe this Friday. That means a flood of screenshots taken from YouTube will be posted here--since Miiverse is shutting down, this will probably be our primary source for images. Here are my recommendations to make each picture look its best:
  +
#Choose HD videos. Obviously, this will improve the quality tremendously.
  +
#Decrease the width of the window to the point where the video shrinks down. This will make the video approximately the size of a 3DS screen.
  +
#Take screenshots while the video is playing rather than pausing it. It'll be slightly annoying, but otherwise a red bar gets in the way.
  +
#If the video has a YouTuber's watermark in the corner, censor it in the screenshot--a black box works best for this. Having a YouTube icon in the corner of 200 screenshots across the wiki would look really amateur. (You're still free to credit the video in the image description on the image's own page, however.)
  +
  +
If we all do this, our KBR images should look darn good. I hope a lot of editors see these guidelines. <span style="color: chartreuse; font-weight: bold;">NerdyBoutKirby</span> [[User_talk:NerdyBoutKirby|<span style="color: deeppink; font-weight: bold;">25 years. ==References==
  +
It might be just an oddity, but we may have to check our references every now and then. Miiverse ones aside, it seems there are still some that don't exist today, and can only be obtained from the Wayback Machine. One such example is the New 3DS commercial that has Kirby copy Kyary Pamyu Pamyu. Iqskirby (talk) 19:41, November 20, 2017 (UTC)

So, there's this reoccurring bit of music that has been present in the Kirby series for a bit, remixes of stuff like Green Greens and Gourmet Race aside. It's occurred in Revenge of Meta Knight, is the beginning of Kirby's Triumphant Return (aka right after defeating Marx), and has appeared in final boss themes like CROWNED, Mind in a PROGRAM, and even Dededestroyer Z. Question is, where would we put this trivia point? :I believe the most iconic place it's been played is right after NOVAs defeat. I totally forgot it played in Revenge of Meta Knight entirely until today, actually. As such, I think we should make a mention of it on Milky Way Wishes page in the Trivia section, and how the theme has appeared in other pieces since then. == Featured Videos ==
  +
  +
Since Wikia decided to plaster their "featured videos" on articles with no input from the communities behind the wikis (which can be seen here), I feel we should have a template indicating that these videos were not created by us, nor do we have any means of modifying or removing them (which, as a result, means they may not accurately reflect the article).--<span style="background-color:Pink"><span style="color:Red"><b><span style="color:Red">Starry-Eyed Wonder</span></b><span style="color:Red">talk</span></span></span> 01:23, March 16, 2018 (UTC)

  +
:I assume that's relatively new. There's not really much we can do about it, but they were probably made with the page's information in mind to some extent. Besides, I think most people are more interested in reading on a wiki than watching videos, to be honest. ==Qbby==
  +
Should we make a page for Qbby? While he doesn't appear as a character, he appears as a Rare Sticker, is compatible with Battle Royale to give header to bomb, has appeared in various comics which reference (and feature) Kirby, has a unique amiibo function in KSA (the milk carton anyway) and even appears on Void Termina (alongside other references). Iqskirby (talk) 04:28, February 8, 2019 (UTC)
  +
  +
:We should, though I think the page would be even more justified once he appears in the flesh in a Kirby game, like Samus Aran. It's only a matter of time. ==DYK Template 2?==
  +
I've been tweaking and improving the facts in the DYK section, and I had a thought. I set out from the beginning to keep all the facts obscure and interesting, since "Miyamoto wanted YELLOW" and related facts are practically a cliche to Kirby fans. While this is great for hardcore fans, it's not very newcomer-friendly; I doubt little Timmy, who just beat Kirby Star Allies as his first Kirby game, really wants to read about the forgotten 1993 spin-off Kirby's Pinball Land. On the other hand, dumping in a cavalcade of common knowledge would dilute our current collection of niche facts, which could bore veteran readers and scare them away from the template altogether.
  +
  +
So I was wondering: Should we create a second DYK template with novices' needs in mind? It's much simpler having only one positioned above the Twitter feed, but like I addressed, the existing template is perfect for one one group of users. Of course, with KEEY coming so soon, I don't think this would be an immediate priority. <span style="color: purple; font-weight: bold;">Nerdy</span><span style="color: mediumpurple; font-weight: bold;">Bout</span><span style="color: purple; font-weight: bold;">Kirby</span> <span style="color: purple; font-weight: bold;">You cad!</span> 01:52, March 4, 2019 (UTC)
  +
  +
:I can definitely see where you're coming from with this. If you feel the need to make a second one with less obscure facts for newcomers, like that Pikachu Libre is a girl, go on ahead by all means. Iqskirby (talk) 02:31, March 4, 2019 (UTC)
  +
  +
::Thanks, I'll see what I can do. There will be some issues that interfere, though:
  +
::#We must determine how inexperienced we're assuming the intended audience is, since I don't want to talk down to the readers.
  +
::#We must decide what games/media they care about in particular. In general, new fans are probably apathetic toward the ancient spin-offs and foreign written works (i.e. manga, comics, light novels), but what about the non-traditional platformers like KCC and KMA? The 3DS eShop games? The anime? Real-world people and events?
  +
::#If we include less-popular titles for the sake of them being in recent memory (i.e. KBR), would that mean we'd have to remove facts later to keep everything relevant? That would require diligence which I'm sure would fall by the wayside.
  +
::#We must determine and remove certain facts from the current "expert" template (like the aforementioned yellow bit) and move them over to the "novice" template.
  +
::#The last and least impactful problem is reader response. Wikia seems to be facing a lot of heavy disdain recently (or perhaps that's just my interpretation), and readers might find it demeaning that we're choosing which facts are for the "real fans" and which ones are for "babies."
  +
::Those are some things we should consider as a team. Do you have any thoughts on them? <span style="color: purple; font-weight: bold;">Nerdy</span><span style="color: mediumpurple; font-weight: bold;">Bout</span><span style="color: purple; font-weight: bold;">Kirby</span> <span style="color: purple; font-weight: bold;">You cad!</span> 22:06, March 4, 2019 (UTC)
  +
  +
:::One other thing I'd like to consider is how exactly we could implement a section for both more obscure facts and newer facts into the Wikia. I'm not quite sure how that would be accomplished in a way that would be functional; putting two separate sections seems a little clunky, yet integrating them together might also be difficult.
  +
  +
:::Overall, I'm okay with this idea, and I see where you're coming from, but I think it does seem to pose an awkward presentation problem. Shinya Kumazaki

We have articles for Masahiro Sakurai and Makiko Ohmoto, two real-world people who have been vital to Kirby's existence. Should we create an article for the current director, Shinya Kumazaki? He's directed three games already (KSSU, KRtDL, and KTD, plus KFD and DDDD) and played a role in three others (KAR, KCC, and KatRC). I think so, and I don't think that's the only kind of localization change. I believe for Christmas one said "Merry Christmas" and there's another, presumably for a different localization, that said "Happy Holidays." IqskirbyActually called "Beam Machine Gun" in KSS; after that discovery, I felt the need to say it in an Arnold Schwarzenegger voiceBihm Masheen Gahn! 01:51, November 17, 2015 (UTC)
It does sound like extra work, but if you want to get both versions I'd have no problem with that.
Also, I had another idea that would require even more effort- in addition to storing these on respective articles, perhaps we should make a new section on the main page dedicated to showing the newest Miiverse drawing and storing the past history. It'd be pretty handy for keeping all of them, including ones not related to specific elements, in one place. Paul2 KMA Animal Friends sprite Dream Land, meet your heroes! 12:53, November 17, 2015 (UTC)
That sounds like a great idea, Paul2. How specifically were you envisioning it? I'll run it by Gioku if were can get the ball rolling.
It's worth noting that my plans for crediting these Miiverse posts fall in line with the way Fire Emblem Wiki does it. Though I am still conflicted on whether they should go in Artwork or Gallery. Miiverse drawings are by definition artwork by the HAL guys, but the Artwork section seems to carry this vibe of promotional+in-game+box+manual art only. Meanwhile, the gallery is more aimed at displaying pictures of the game in motion. Tough call. NerdyBoutKirby Doobydooba-doobadoobop Edit the happiness! 19:56, November 17, 2015 (UTC)
I'm glad you like the idea! I was envisioning a box on the main page (perhaps on the right side underneath the 'Latest Title' box) that would show the latest Miiverse drawing and would have a link to a page with a table containing all of the drawings in the chronological order they are released. Of course, we would have to include drawings from the Dedede's Drum Dash/Kirby Fighters Deluxe behind the scenes page and Japanese versions if we want them.
Perhaps a new section should be created for those pages, because these drawings are different from both artwork and gallery sections. Perhaps a sub-section in the artwork section would work best. Paul2 KMA Animal Friends sprite Dream Land, meet your heroes! 20:51, November 17, 2015 (UTC)
That would be a good spot for the 400-pixel-wide images to reside. Since you're the one with the vision, it'd be best if you pitched the idea to Gioku yourself. I can't think of any off the top of my head, but I'll keep it in mind in case I see one. Paul2 MyRevenge2016 shall be MINE! 19:05, January 18, 2016 (UTC)
I don't know of any. We generally don't state those kinds of things as fact; if something is uncertain, most pages note that it "may be" X. Probably the most common assumption I can think of is the gender of various enemies, and even those cases are infrequent. NerdyBoutKirby Good thing I pre-ordered mine Eyes on the prize. 02:04, January 19, 2016 (UTC)
Anybody got any cites connecting Rowlin to J.K. Rowling, Pappy Pottey and the Fool's Stone to Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, and Dis Walney to Walt Disney? While they seem to be obvious connections, there aren't any references that we have regarding these that explicitly say that one was based on the other, at least from what I can find on here. I brought up this topic about assumptions in regards to Kirby Fighters Z and Dragon Ball Z. I looked up a list of Japanese television shows, and only one other show came up that ended with a Z in the same fashion. It was Robot Girls Z, also made by Toei Animation, being a comedic parody about their mechs being anthropomorphized into magical girls. No other show seems to have a correlation with Kirby Fighters Z; Dragon Ball Z seems to be quite an obvious origin for the Japanese name. IqskirbyActually called "Beam Machine Gun" in KSS; after that discovery, I felt the need to say it in an Arnold Schwarzenegger voiceBihm Masheen Gahn! 21:46, January 25, 2016 (UTC)
I've never seen an actual source for these things, but I believe that unless we find a true source that says one was NOT based on the other, we'll have no reason to change or remove what can easily be inferred. Paul2 MyRevenge2016 shall be MINE! 21:57, January 25, 2016 (UTC)
Then what would that say regarding Kirby Fighters Z in comparison to Dragon Ball Z? Currently we have a "may be" instead of a full-on assertion for this case, but the other three cases are clear assertions instead of a slight skepticism due to no actual source. IqskirbyActually called "Beam Machine Gun" in KSS; after that discovery, I felt the need to say it in an Arnold Schwarzenegger voiceBihm Masheen Gahn! 22:19, January 25, 2016 (UTC)
It's worth noting that parodies often don't outright state what forms of media they are parodying, probably for legal reasons. If Kirby: Right Back at Ya! openly mentioned Harry Potter, Warpstar Inc. would have to credit HP and its author. I haven't studied up on this sort of thing though, so take this comment as you will.
To answer your question, these full-on assertions and cautious assertions are generated by different people with different minds, all of whom take in the information present and come to their own conclusions. In the Pappy Pottey case, the show is pretty blatant about what it's parodying without explicitly mentioning the source material--young wizard who goes to a magic school and plays a ball-based sport on a broom, Harry Potter fits all of those things. So virtually everyone agrees that Pappy Pottey is definitely based on Harry Potter. It's hard to not see that when the show bends over backwards to make all these similarities.
What's more difficult is when subtle references or homages are made. Case and point, Kirby Fighters Z. The reference is purely in the title, as the rest of the game is merely an expansion of an original sub-game, Kirby Fighters. It doesn't shape its identity around parody--Kirby doesn't have to collect seven Sparkling Balls, increase his inhale level, or defeat Buu Dedede. Since the sub-game doesn't bludgeon the player with Dragon Ball Z connections, some players think of the title as a reference while others think of it as a coincidence. Whether it's meant as an anime reference or not is then up to debate.
This is a good discussion, guys. I'm trying to remain as neutral as possible on this to see how it unfolds. NerdyBoutKirby Good thing I pre-ordered mine Eyes on the prize. 00:35, January 26, 2016 (UTC)
I see what you mean about it not being chock-full of references, but it's focus is all about fighting, something in which Dragon Ball Z is clearly about as well; same goes for just about every Dragon Ball Z game: they're fighting games. But yes, I see what you mean. This is a good resource, but I don't think it's up to date. On the bottom of the page you linked, it said 'Last Updated- 1.31.05'. There are at least two other issues with Kirby-related content released since then that I can think of. One was a cover story about 'Double Kirby' when two games came out in 2011, and another had a Kirby's Epic Yarn article. Claimed Articles

While the Kirby Wiki: Claimed Articles page has been a step in the right direction, I believe that we need to increase the visibility of that page, as new pages still seem to be cropping up. Though announcements have been made on the Kirby Wiki Twitter page, I still don't think that that Twitter page is well known enough yet to get the attention of these new users. Is there any type of template we can use to make a special announcement at the top of the Home page to maximize visibility? I think it would help stave some of these claimed articles for now. Paul2 KTD Bronto Burt artwork KPR Data Cube KPR Bronto Burt You've been... robobotized! 11:24, May 22, 2016 (UTC)

The only idea that I can really come up with at the moment is having some sort of reservation template that is on a claimed article; the article itself will exist, but we will only allow edits from the claimer. Anyone else who tries to edit it, unless given permission by the claimer, will be reverted (manually, and probably also by the claimer; I don't know how well bots would work with this, not that we have many bots). This way people know that the article is being worked on instead of assuming it doesn't exist at all and that it needs to be made. Granted, a problem that may arise would be uninvited editing to the page, but a template would be more obvious than what's on the front page of the wiki, in my opinion. Just a quick idea. We could create a template similar to the Conjectural template (*) that could be placed at the end of red links on the KPR page. It could say RESERVED or CLAIMED in small letters and link back to the Claimed Articles page. That might help if the majority of these editors are creating their pages from the list of red links on Kirby: Planet Robobot, which I suspect they are. It seems we have multiple fairly good ideas. Names

This issue has come to my attention, and I think we need to do something about it. I'm not talking about names of new articles, conjectural titles, or derivative titles. I'm talking about some objects which names' are rather inconsistent throughout the series. Examples include Planet Popstar, 02, and Main Canon No. 2. What decides how we name them? By their most common name, by their most recent name, or by something else entirely? Usually it comes down to most recent. In cases like Planet Popstar or Warp Star--names strewn across hundreds of pages that we'd have to change manually--we tend to wait and see if the retcon sticks. KTD tried to change Warp Star to "Warpstar," only to have the name changed back in KPR. It's a good thing we didn't change every instance of Warp Star, otherwise we'd have had a colossal mess to clean up. We should remember this situation for future reference.
As far as Combo Cannon is concerned, I think we should change the name from Main Cannon No. 2. It was used only once a long time ago, and two SSB games and KPR have reverted it back. Articles we [don't] need

Something's been bothering me for a bit, and I'm going to address it. I don't mean to rain on anyone's parade, but are soul pages necessary? For the most part, they're just glorified versions of the counterpart page. The boss fight is generally a more difficult version of the original (save for Drawcia's case, which is completely different; also excluding the surprise final phases of Soul of Sectonia and Star Dream Soul OS), and have ambiguous plot relevancy. We don't have Revenge pages (anymore), we don't have EX, DX, or 2.0 pages. We don't have hologram pages. We don't have clone pages (save for the Dedede one, which I question a bit). A lot of content is lumped together. All incarnations of Whispy are grouped onto his page (except Clanky Woods, who also gets his own page). All Dedede fights, including Masked Dedede, are on his page (except the clone, as mentioned earlier; Shadow Dedede is a separate entity, and therefore gets his own page). Meta Knight fights are on his page (except Mecha Knight, again for unmentioned reasons). All Dark Matter fights are on its page too. Despite having a clone (along with Sectonia), they are lumped together on their respective pages instead of getting separate ones, unlike Dedede Clone. Where do we draw the line on this? What maintains a page, and what can be simply merged into another page? IqskirbyActually called "Beam Machine Gun" in KSS; after that discovery, I felt the need to say it in an Arnold Schwarzenegger voiceBihm Masheen Gahn! 23:21, July 27, 2016 (UTC)

In my opinion, if they're the same entity, e. g. Dedede and Masked Dedede, keep them in one page. Mecha Knight would technically belong to the Meta Knight page as he's just a mind-controlled Meta Knight. Sectonia and Sectonia Clone... They ARE actually different entities, but I'm not so sure about that... It IS a bit complicated... The mind is a weapon... Lose your mind, lose your control. (talk) 09:10, July 28, 2016 (UTC)

You bring up some interesting points, Iqs. My first inclination, however, is to think that the 'Soul' bosses, in many cases, are changed entities who, being final bosses, tend to have major story elements that explain what altered about them. Take Marx Soul, for instance. Marx could not have become Marx Soul without absorbing without absorbing Nova's energy. While it may be true that they are the same character in essence, they have been augmented and changed in more ways than one. The same argument may be made for Magolor Soul (the Master Crown had altered Magolor greatly), Drawcia Soul (for obvious reasons), Soul of Sectonia (she devoured four Miracle Fruits, altering her), and even Star Dream Soul OS (consuming Haltmann's soul changed Star Dream). Because nearly every one of these 'soul' bosses underwent a major physical and mental change, I think it's reasonable to conclude that there are enough differences to merit separate pages.
I hope this helps, and I'd like to hear some input from you guys on my theory. Paul2 KTD Bronto Burt artwork KPR Data Cube KPR Bronto Burt You've been... robobotized! 11:26, July 28, 2016 (UTC)
However, let's also note that the soul bosses (except Drawcia, again) only appear in certain parts of the game where canon hasn't been officially established. The Arena and The True Arena, Meta Knightmare and all other Extra Modes. That being said, it's a little difficult to say if they're really major story elements. Marx Soul receives an explanation for his existence, but not how Kirby got to him, or why. Magolor Soul is only part of The True Arena and Extra Mode, which goes along the exact same storyline as Main Mode, aside from dialogue changes after getting 120 Energy Spheres and the new cutscene featuring Magolor changing into his EX form. How Sectonia has revived is also unknown. Sure, she took 4 Miracle Fruits, but in the end of Main Mode, she was completely obliterated and the Dream Stalk stayed instead of withered with her. The type of flower is also different, which receives no explanation, especially since Floralia still exists in KPR, presumably with the Dream Stalk, whereas the end of The True Arena implies it's withered away now. SDSOS had a sort of explanation for the transformation, but how did Star Dream even come back in Meta Knightmare Returns in the first place, when he was obliterated in the Main game? Same goes for everything Haltmann-related. There's also no explanation as for why and how Kirby got Halberd Mode again. Most of these soul bosses seem like non-canon story arcs. True, the 'soul' story arcs often don't really line up with the official canon, and a lot of details are left unclear. Nonetheless, we cannot disregard the fact that in every such 'soul' story arc thus far, some sort of fairly clear reasoning is given that shows how the bosses changed to become its soul version. Whether or not elements of these story arcs are truly canon, I think that the fact that soul bosses are greatly changed from their normal versions remains consistent. Paul2 KTD Bronto Burt artwork KPR Data Cube KPR Bronto Burt You've been... robobotized! 18:53, July 28, 2016 (UTC)
What about non-soul articles then? We have Dedede Clone, Mecha Knight, and Clanky Woods as their own pages. Couldn't these just be lumped in with their counterpart pages? If no, then wouldn't that imply that Dark Matter Clone, Sectonia Clone, and Core Kabula deserve their own pages?
The reason we need Soul articles is greater now than it ever has been. These pages are getting longer and longer--merging Star Dream and its soul would create a gargantuan page based on a character in one game. That's not to say that a page cannot be vast, but there comes a point where a character article is overloaded with content from one game. We have to draw the line somewhere.
I'm fine with how DMC, SC, and CK are at the moment, but I'm not thoroughly against them getting their own pages. Clanky, Mecha, and DDD Clone all have mostly new movesets and are the definitive bosses of their levels. The three aforementioned characters seem either too similar to previous versions of themselves (Sectonia has only one different move from KTD) or can be thought of as an updated version of the character. Hypothetically, we could just make one "Clone" article. NerdyBoutKirby I feel like the transgression in the source material held more weight... the EYES! 21:07, July 28, 2016 (UTC)

I'm generally okay with RPs happening here if they don't cause trouble, but the image uploads recently have been too out-there (many of which are profane). Heck, there was a policy between 2010-2012 (which is still probably policy that no one enforces anymore) that non-Kirby images were limited to five per person. Not the real deal, but...

We have categories referring to bosses in specific Kirby games, but we have a slight issue: there seem to be some variances in whether the category should be put or not. For example, Ice Dragon currently counts as a boss in Dream Land 3, despite being a painting. Dark Matter currently counts as a boss in Robobot despite being a clone. Sectonia's is a bit ambiguous at the moment. All of the Holo bosses don't seem to be registered for appearances in Robobot, and you get the picture. How're we going to do this? Do we count the fakes and clones, or no? I personally say yes, as I feel they need some sort of recognition for kind of appearing (just using Ado for Ice Dragon's case just doesn't seem like enough because it's not specific enough unless you read the article). IqskirbyActually called "Beam Machine Gun" in KSS; after that discovery, I felt the need to say it in an Arnold Schwarzenegger voiceBihm Masheen Gahn! 20:04, September 22, 2016 (UTC)

The way I see it, the Sectonia Clone fight is a part of the Star Dream battle, and can't count as an appearance of the real Queen Sectonia (at least, as far as categories go).
However, I'm open to hearing other opinions on the matter. Paul2 KTD Bronto Burt artwork KPR Data Cube KPR Bronto Burt You've been... robobotized! 20:39, September 22, 2016 (UTC)

I vote we scrap the categories. Perhaps, in its place, add "mini-boss" for their respective appearance, or simply a "Cameo Appearance" to have that show of recognition. Or, we could nothing at all to replace the Category, and instead just have a little snippet written on the page, as long as we obviously link back to the game. Ban RPs?

Role-playing in discussion threads didn't bother me when it was a small thing, but now that it's taking up 25 separate threads spanning over 12,000 messages, I think it needs to stop. Kirby Wiki doesn't exist for role-playing; it exists to be an encyclopedia. On top of that, it's resulted in a lot of irrelevant image uploads and vulgarity, which we highly discourage. We don't stand to lose anything if this ends, either, as the people who are most interested in it don't edit mainspace content for the most part.

Other wikis are far more strict about RPing. I feel we should follow their example and prohibit this, as it's causing more problems than it's fixing. NerdyBoutKirby I feel like the transgression in the source material held more weight... the EYES! 03:44, September 26, 2016 (UTC)

I'll get this through to them. Chances are that the RP can continue on in the Fan Fiction Kirby Wiki, which is okay with Roleplays. I too am in agreement; the roleplaying has been largely a detraction from the main content of Kirby Wiki. The Kirby Fan Fiction Wiki would likely be a good home for this. The only thing they've done so far is welcome users who don't even exist or contribute to this Wikia, currently (last time I checked). Miiverse Page

Anybody think we should make a Miiverse page? Sure, it's not strictly Kirby (although neither are any of the Smash Bros. games), but it has Kirby content, which we have also used as sources of information. We could also put up external links to the communities for each game, although I'd be less inclined to do ones that aren't the "Behind the Scenes" communities. I don't have any plans to make this page at the moment, as I have enough Kirby Wiki projects to worry about that I've been sitting on. Hm. I'm not sure either. We'd have to have enough official information (aside from the drawings) to make it worthy of a page. Colons

I've mentioned this before, and oh boy, if this goes my way, I know what problems will follow. We've put colons in KCC and KSqSq. Whenever one of the games' names is displayed without a colon, we deem it an error. However, I have found no evidence that these game titles ever had colons. Not only am I looking at their displayed names on Virtual Console, which seem to be lacking any shorthands that would make that claim less credible, but I've also looked at the box-art spines, in which KPR is the only game to have a colon there. K64 does't have a colon there, but it has a colon on VC, so it's fine as is. Canvas Curse and Squeak Squad, on the other hand, if we're going through with this, need to have their colons removed. I know this will be annoying. I will take on the task regardless of whether somebody volunteers to do it, assuming we make the changes instead of leaving it as is, because that'd be the easier option. IqskirbyActually called "Beam Machine Gun" in KSS; after that discovery, I felt the need to say it in an Arnold Schwarzenegger voiceBihm Masheen Gahn! 14:24, January 25, 2017 (UTC)

The DS menu and instruction manuals show a colon for both, as do the keychains and stickers in KTD and KPR, and Kirby's History in KDCol. We've been through this before. The reason I don't think we should bother changing it is because it seems inconsistent to begin with--what happens if the games get rereleased with colons in their names? We'd have to change them right back, and that's hundreds of pages to change. The word "Warpstar" brings back some memories. Anniversary pages?

I had an idea: Since Nintendo likes to celebrate special anniversaries for its most popular franchises, what if we created articles to cover them? At the moment, we have a gallery of K25th Twitter artwork dumped awkwardly on the Kirby (series) page; this gallery would fit perfectly on a page specifically detailing what occurred during the celebration in 2017.

My idea was for five pages currently: "Kirby's 5th Anniversary," "Kirby's 10th Anniversary," "Kirby's 15th Anniversary," "Kirby's 20th Anniversary," and "Kirby's 25th Anniversary." Some of these would be more detailed and populated with info than others. What do you guys think of this idea? Admittedly, the 5th (1997) wasn't celebrated as an anniversary in North America--at least, I don't think it was. I recall reading somewhere that KSSU was intended to celebrate the 15th anniversary (2007) but came out a tad late, sort of like how Sonic Forces is supposed to celebrate Sonic's 25th anniversary a year late. NerdyBoutKirby This console will tide me over until we get some announcements about the NX. Let's switch it up! 03:28, June 5, 2017 (UTC)
If we were going to do something like this, I think we should do it in a single "Anniversaries of the Kirby series" page, containing all of this information. On their own, most of these wouldn't have enough info to warrant their own pages, most likely. Such a general page could also include info about possible anniversary celebrations/references that didn't happen in the increments of 5. Paul2 Overlord. The "dorkiest" of Matter. 12:17, June 5, 2017 (UTC)
That's an even better idea! Though I'd suggest a third name change: "Kirby series anniversaries" or possibly "Kirby series Anniversaries," whichever is capitalized properly. Ports

We've never been in this situation before and it may never happen, but what should we do if Nintendo announces a port of an existing Kirby game (specifically for the Switch)? Would we graft it onto the existing page as its own section? Would the port take over the page? Would we separate the two? Something to think about. NerdyBoutKirby "Hi-Jump Kuhby You are who you choose to copy... 21:14, July 19, 2017 (UTC)

Are you speaking of re-releases (like KaTAM) or full-fledged ports (like what existed within Kirby's Dream Collection: Special Edition? Looking back at most of the games that were ported with KDC:SE, it didn't seem as if we made mention of them in the infobox. Furthermore, re-releases (like KaTAM for the Wii U) seem to have only a sentence of mentioning, along with the re-release date in the infobox. If it comes down to it, I suggest we follow suit with what we already have, and just slap the re-release date in the info box and maybe a sentence or two describing its re-release.

I'm talking about what they did with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Pokken Tournament DX (and possibly Smash 4, Bayonetta 1+2, and The Wonderful 101): Take a game that was new a few years prior and put it on the Switch, with a few new characters/features. Forum Migrations to Discussions

I received a message from FANDOM's Community Development regarding an upcoming feature on Wikia. Here's the important part of the message:

I'm not sure if we ever asked you guys if you are interested in turning on the Discussions feature for the Downton community, and migrating the Threaded Forums across as well. This is in very early preparation for the new game that's coming out next year.

For more information on migrating forums to Discussions, you can check out this blog over on Community Central that explains everything in detail.

If you have some concerns, Discussions, and Forums can exist side-by-side in case you do not want to migrate just yet. However, eventually all Forums will be migrated over to Discussions and Forums will be sunsetted as a feature, so getting ahead of the curve is never a bad idea.

Feel free to have an open discussion with your community/admins about this, and I'm available with any questions you might have. Have a good one!

Important Kirby Battle Royale Precaution

YouTube Screenshot Done Right

YouTube screenshot example. Graphics look smooth because the video is only two pixels wider than a Miiverse screenshot.

As you guys know, Kirby Battle Royale launches in Europe this Friday. That means a flood of screenshots taken from YouTube will be posted here--since Miiverse is shutting down, this will probably be our primary source for images. Here are my recommendations to make each picture look its best:

 1. Choose HD videos. Obviously, this will improve the quality tremendously.
 2. Decrease the width of the window to the point where the video shrinks down. This will make the video approximately the size of a 3DS screen.
 3. Take screenshots while the video is playing rather than pausing it. It'll be slightly annoying, but otherwise a red bar gets in the way.
 4. If the video has a YouTuber's watermark in the corner, censor it in the screenshot--a black box works best for this. Having a YouTube icon in the corner of 200 screenshots across the wiki would look really amateur. (You're still free to credit the video in the image description on the image's own page, however.)

If we all do this, our KBR images should look darn good. I hope a lot of editors see these guidelines. NerdyBoutKirby Kirby's lifespan is longer than this signature!25 years. Even niftier. 04:02, October 29, 2017 (UTC)

References

It might be just an oddity, but we may have to check our references every now and then. Miiverse ones aside, it seems there are still some that don't exist today, and can only be obtained from the Wayback Machine. Leitmotif

IqskirbyAbility Kirby Sleep 14759Happy February 21:09, February 6, 2018 (UTC)

I believe the most iconic place it's been played is right after NOVAs defeat. I totally forgot it played in Revenge of Meta Knight entirely until today, actually. As such, I think we should make a mention of it on Milky Way Wishes page in the Trivia section, and how the theme has appeared in other pieces since then. Meta Kirby52 Return of the Riderz Revenge. This won't be pretty. 21:14, February 6, 2018 (UTC)

Featured Videos

Since Wikia decided to plaster their "featured videos" on articles with no input from the communities behind the wikis (which can be seen here), I feel we should have a template indicating that these videos were not created by us, nor do we have any means of modifying or removing them (which, as a result, means they may not accurately reflect the article).--Have a good dayStarry-Eyed WonderBe safe out there!talk 01:23, March 16, 2018 (UTC)

I assume that's relatively new. There's not really much we can do about it, but they were probably made with the page's information in mind to some extent. Qbby

DYK Template 2?

NerdyBoutKirby Bambina! You cad! 01:52, March 4, 2019 (UTC)

I can definitely see where you're coming from with this. If you feel the need to make a second one with less obscure facts for newcomers, like that Pikachu Libre is a girl, go on ahead by all means. Iqskirby (talk) 02:31, March 4, 2019 (UTC)
Thanks, I'll see what I can do. There will be some issues that interfere, though:
 1. We must determine how inexperienced we're assuming the intended audience is, since I don't want to talk down to the readers.
 2. We must decide what games/media they care about in particular. In general, new fans are probably apathetic toward the ancient spin-offs and foreign written works (i.e. manga, comics, light novels), but what about the non-traditional platformers like KCC and KMA? The 3DS eShop games? The anime? Real-world people and events?
 3. If we include less-popular titles for the sake of them being in recent memory (i.e. KBR), would that mean we'd have to remove facts later to keep everything relevant? That would require diligence which I'm sure would fall by the wayside.
 4. We must determine and remove certain facts from the current "expert" template (like the aforementioned yellow bit) and move them over to the "novice" template.
 5. The last and least impactful problem is reader response. Wikia seems to be facing a lot of heavy disdain recently (or perhaps that's just my interpretation), and readers might find it demeaning that we're choosing which facts are for the "real fans" and which ones are for "babies."
Those are some things we should consider as a team. Do you have any thoughts on them? NerdyBoutKirby Bambina! You cad! 22:06, March 4, 2019 (UTC)
One other thing I'd like to consider is how exactly we could implement a section for both more obscure facts and newer facts into the Wikia. I'm not quite sure how that would be accomplished in a way that would be functional; putting two separate sections seems a little clunky, yet integrating them together might also be difficult.
Overall, I'm okay with this idea, and I see where you're coming from, but I think it does seem to pose an awkward presentation problem. Paul2 Let's just get this out of the way: KIRBY SUCKS! The dorky isocahedron returns. 23:01, March 4, 2019 (UTC)

KEEY is in the past now. I'd like to change the logo back to our usual one if that's alright with everyone. NerdyBoutKirby "Me want FOOOD!" I want to go to there~ 05:25, May 30, 2019 (UTC)

Twitter Category

The Kirby Twitter has been reminding us of forgotten characters for years now. Would it be worthwhile to make a category for Kirby Twitter cameos? Some people might want to know which ones have been drawn and which haven't. NerdyBoutKirby DarkDaroach0919 That's what I've been—Savvy? 17:36, March 20, 2020 (UTC)

Seems fine to me, especially since some are getting more screen time there than in their respective games or other artwork. Iqskirby (talk) 18:07, March 20, 2020 (UTC)
I'm not sure where to start, though. There's gotta be an easier way than individually typing in every character we see in the pictures. NerdyBoutKirby RunOver Run... Over... 19:54, March 20, 2020 (UTC)
If we had been keeping up to date with the twitter on the wiki, it may have been easier, but oh well. You could theoretically also type "Twitter" into the search bar, and any page that has that word in it will pop up. Iqskirby (talk) 19:55, March 20, 2020 (UTC)
I tried that. Nothing shows up unless you search for images, at which point you'd have to search each character manually. NerdyBoutKirby RunOver Run... Over... 19:59, March 20, 2020 (UTC)
Well, we have to start somewhere. What would the category be called, anyway? Iqskirby (talk) 20:19, March 20, 2020 (UTC)
I figured "Kirby Twitter Cameos." As I've mentioned, it only covers characters who have been drawn in the wacky art pieces.

Only the art pieces, not in general? Iqskirby (talk) 23:31, March 20, 2020 (UTC)
That's what I personally was imagining, though I guess it wouldn't make much of a difference--that which appears in screenshots usually shows up in a drawing one way or another. This is one category that doesn't accomplish much outside of being fun to peruse. Its merit comes from other users finding it fun to read through.

All right. Just making sure of the specifics. Iqskirby (talk) 01:15, March 21, 2020 (UTC)
