I also didn't see the red snakes that Mr. Dooter (I LOVE DOOTER'S NAME) summons or any of the Sphere Doomer- like things you see when you ride the Landia dragons in Another Dimension. Unless they're one of the red ones that don't have a page, they aren't on the wiki. About the hearbell, it was unused and I think someone took it off the list. Revision as of 17:21, 26 November 2011

I found an interesting tidbit of information on Wikipedia. Actually, more of a rumor than anything else. I asked about it in the Talk Page, but no one has answered me quite yet. So, do NOT add this to the article unless we can get a better source.

While the article is still just called "Kirby (video game)" on Wikipedia, the VG Box calls it "Kirby: Legend of the Stars." It also claims Japan gets it on December 19th of this year. Neither "facts" have sources.

Another interesting bit of information, is this article here: http://www.officialnintendomagazine.co.uk/article.php?id=6131 Kirby for the Wii is on this article. They referred to it as "Kirby Adventure" in that article, and said:

"It has been said that Kirby has recently been resurrected as a Wii game, though, so we expect the beleaguered little Kirby to return to proper, non-novelty home console gaming later this year. Or 2009. Or 2010. He always gets treated badly. Nintendo keeps the real Kirby in a cage, you know."

I find this interesting. Is the project still alive, perhaps? Will we see any new screenshots or something by the end of this year or sometime the next? Please, I want an answer. 76.175.116.65 20:13, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

If this game IS still holding on to life by a thread, then the release date was obviously wrong. I will edit that out (my first edit on the wiki...) I seriously hope this game happens, I have only played Kirby 64 (today. Yeah, I know), and the video looked amazing. I may also add some of those alternate titles, if they aren't alredy there... / JakeyBoy01 22:11, 20 December 2008 (UTC)

pics from Kirby Wii

I have info on Kirby wii that I can't edit into the Kirby Wii article, like I know that Cutter Kirby and Sir Kibble will be in the game and much more. Also I want the credit for it so I would have to edit it in myself. So to who ever is in charge could you unlock the the Kirby Wii article, please. (Is this enough of a reliable source)

--Helperkirby24 07:02, 24 June 2009 (UTC)Helperkirby24 Thanx for unlocking it.

Huh? Since when was the water ability in the game? That could very well be the bubble ability with differences. Or it could be the new water ability. We don't know. So what should go in the spot that says the water ability? Bubble/water? Possibly water? Possibly bubble? I won't change anything until I know that it's okay, otherwise I could anger a few people with the change. Also, I don't remember the editing page looking like this, so something might have changed with how you edit. Sorry if I made a mistake with editing because of this. Kirby in the background

I believe that there wil be some 3d moments in kirby wii. if you don´t believe me, you can waths the trailer. go to the fight with the gigantic droid and waths the background.

You can't even tell what the thing in the picture is because of the water mark. I'm ~CrystalChocolateKirbyLucario~ And I approve this message.

I have found a new video in high quality with no water mark. Its must be kirby.

No. If you actually pay attention to Kirby's movements, you can tell that he ISN'T in the background, but instead just in back of the robot. EmptyStar 00:47, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

Should have been released is a lie

I noticed on the page it said "still in development" then said something about it should have been out by now. Now this is quite false. As I am a nerd...Kingdom Hearts II was confirmed in 2003, yet was not released in the USA until 2007, years later. Also, many other games were delayed for even longer. It can be released at any time when it is good enough to be worth the wait. --unsigned comment by SSF2Zelda (talkblogcontributionslogs) Always sign your posts with four tildes ~~~~ !

Finally!

I just read today's page and it said the game may be for the Nintendo 3DS. Finally, this game may come out. I can tell it's a great game since it has good enough graphics and good gameplay appearantly. Also, the helper system returns. From what we know about the plot, it does need a little more info but as we know, if Dedede is involved, something really evil lurks about. Also, his Dedede bots look cool and may be challenging bosses. But anyways, this looks like a great game. I hope Meta Knight is in it and there's some kind of subgame where you can play as him similar to Meta Knightmare Ultra with something similar to the point system allowing you to summon helpers and such. If there is, I hope he can summon more knights like Ax Knight, Javelin Knight, Mace Knight or even a Sir Kibble. But still, I hope this game finally comes out. Split?

I think that the Kirby Wii game that is going to be released should be split from the canceled one. All the info is clashing with one another and its a cluttered mess. --Game JetGameFreak WOOOOSH!

Fully agree. I think this page should be made into the page of the game in development, and have a previous version of the page before the new info came in split into another page on its own. I'm not familiar with the premise of the old game, so I can't be certain of what information should be included into that other page. Can someone familiar with it do this? I don't mind doing it though.Template:Profile:Changtau2005/Sig

I agree, but only if Nintendo doesn't totally confirm that the GCN game is what became Kirby Wii before its release. If we split it too early, it may cause more work to put the article back together if that were the case. I say we at least wait until closer to its release to be sure. LinkTheLefty 20:48, June 7, 2011 (UTC)

I say suspend further editing on the page until we get more information. I know I know, I just edited it, but that was just to add the link to the E3 trailer. -Noob1234

Well, I was thinking of the old one being Kirby Wii (prototype) or something like that and this one being Kirby Wii. It will be easier to navigate as right now, it is hard to read this article due to the multiple items being talked about. Also, I'm pretty sure this is entirely different from the old one, as the inclusion of partners is not present and the appearance looks much different. So do you guys agree with the split? --Game JetGameFreak WOOOOSH!
Agree. I think in the best interests of the growth of the article, since it's slated for release in Fall 2011 would be to split it now, the reason being if indeed circumstances arise and we have to merge the data again, it's still best to include what was revealed before the nintendo investor report in a section called, say, "origin" or something, or "prototype" as you suggested, simply because there was so much development time in between the title now and what it was before has a lot of difference. We're in a weird position; This title has such a long history. Template:Profile:Changtau2005/Sig
Okay, if no opposes later tonight, I will begin to split the article to the best of my ability. --Game JetGameFreak WOOOOSH!
Very well. I propose the name "Kirby GCN" for the article, though, given its similarity to Kirby Wii and the fact that was the most common name for it (the other names it went by, "Hoshi no Kirby" and "Kirby Adventure," would be confusing). That, and technically the footage and info we previously had pertained to the GameCube release and not this Wii game. LinkTheLefty 00:26, June 8, 2011 (UTC)
Very well. Kirby GCN it is. --Game JetGameFreak WOOOOSH!

Tentative title

When the final title is released, we may have to move this page to the new title, leave Kirby Wii as a redirect, and check Special:WhatLinksHere/Kirby_Wii to change all internal links (~40 mainspace pages right now) directing to this page to reflect the new name, since Kirby Wii is generic in nature, and change those still referring to Kirby GCN to its proper page instead of Kirby Wii.

From that perspective, that's something that we'll have to do eventually, or is there a better way of doing it? Sorry, I'm not familiar with protocols like this; I mostly manage templates and patrol edits for factual and grammatical accuracy.

We have a new name!

"Kirby Returns to Dream Land." That is the most recent title referred to by Nintendo representatives hours ago, as reported by several gaming sites. So it's pretty much official. Shall we change the article name? LinkTheLefty 02:24, July 22, 2011 (UTC)

Where are your sources? BNK [E|T|C] 03:18, July 22, 2011 (UTC)
http://www.siliconera.com/2011/07/21/kirby-wiis-actual-name-is/. It's from Siliconera, and every other source mentioning the new name out there is using it as reference. The author of the article goes by the username "Spencer", but he just mentioned a Nintendo rep said the new title in the short article. Whether it's a translated title is not known, and it's not clear when the meeting took place or who the representative is. I think we should wait a bit to see if Nintendo itself announces the title; not much point changing the title then potentially having to change it again since we have to shift all the links too. 04:14, July 22, 2011 (UTC)
With response to this, since there are divided opinions with regards to whether "Kirby Returns to Dream Land" is the real title, I sent an email to Nintendo of America's customer service department to get to the bottom of this issue:

Well unfortunately, one needs proper press credentials to actually access Nintendo's "Public Relations and Media Contacts" i.e. one needs to be actually working for some kind of publishing body; electronic, paper, or otherwise. So, this is as far as I can probably get. Although I have no experience with this kind of query, I doubt this is the kind of answer they'll give with an already-announced title. 15:36, August 2, 2011 (UTC)
As has been reported for several weeks, Nintendo has confirmed that the title is "Kirby's Return to Dreamland" (which is what was reported over 3 WEEKS ago). Source: Nintendo PR release http://press.nintendo.com/articles.jsp?id=30428 . TJ Spyke 15:30, August 23, 2011 (UTC)
If you have a link to the report that's three weeks old as of August 24, I'd like to see the source so next time the wiki doesn't miss such information. The above link is dated August 23rd. If such a title change happened three weeks ago, I doubt IGN/ Gamespot /GameFAQs would have left their titles hanging until now, unless they're slacking ._. 08:44, August 24, 2011 (UTC)
Oh, and looks like Nintendo themselves typed their own title wrong; "Dream Land" on the box art vs. "Dreamland" on the site. [1]. I guess we deferred to the box art, which is the correct thing to do. 08:48, August 24, 2011 (UTC)

In the enemy list, it says "An unnamed glowing knight enemy that gives the Ultra Sword ability" and " An unnamed Hothead-like enemy that gives the Monster Flame ability" Both of these enemies are obviously a Blade Knight and Hothead (albeit with a slightly different appearence), as shown in the video at 2:17 and 7:05 .Zweilous64 04:32, August 9, 2011 (UTC)Zweilous64

They are. However, if you have confirmation of their names at this time in a reliable source, please reference it and put it into the article. 17:35, August 11, 2011 (UTC)

Hello. Um, while we are talking about Hammer in Kirby Return to Dreamland, Why can't they, for once, put an actual enemy, not a miniboss mind you, that gives the Copy ability Hammer.

Nintendo, next time you make a kirby game, put an emeny in there that gives hammer. Such as the Dedede Doll. He had an hammer in the anime (and yes, I know that it is probably a fake hammer, but that's besides the point). so, why can't he provide the copy ability Hammer in an game?

One thing. That picture is hosted by imageshack but that says almost nothing about its origins - where did it come from? The set looks like it's frozen camcorder captures of game footage played off a screen. I'm not aware of a closed beta of the game, so it must have been either in E3 or PAX or Penny Arcade (or some other exhibition that I do not know of) if it's true. UFO Ability

I played through the game just today and I haven't found a UFO ability ingame. Can someone fix this? Landia is also not an ability, he's the hydra/dragons.

Umm

Three things of concerns:

  1. Should there be separate articles for the EX bosses and minibosses?
  2. Should there be separate articles for the Super enemies (i.e. Super Bonkers)?
  3. Should Magolor Soul get its own article?

I say no to the 1st one and yes to the other two. --Game JetGameFreak WOOOOSH!

Enemy listing and soundtrack

Is there an enemy listing menu with all their names after finishing the game up to a certain point?

Also, I've extracted the soundtrack from the disc onto my computer, but most of them have 2 versions - a louder version and a softer version. Should we keep both of them or just one? I don't know which version the game uses.

AS a side note, anyone else noticed that Kirby's backside starts smoking for some reason during his super inhale?

Changtau2005

Administrator Poyo! 01:37, October 31, 2011 (UTC)

As far as I know, there isn't any such enemy listing.
... However, the model files on the game disc do have the enemies' names, so perhaps that could be used?
--Podiatrist 22:10, October 31, 2011 (UTC)

Enemy List

OK. I've examined the disc data using Wiiscrubber, from what I can see, these are the system names of in-game characters and items. We should probably base the articles off these names:

Powerups:

  • BalloonBomb (the big bomb)
  • Candle
  • Cracker (the cannon)
  • LockKey
  • PrismShield (the French horn)
  • StepShoe (Copy Ability Challenge tutorial calls it Stomper Boot)
  • InvisibleStone

Enemies - I don't know how to extract 3d models from the .cmp files in the disc, so I can't double check against the actual model but most of the names are fairly self-explanatory

  • AquaRock - a rock
  • AquaRockSea - a rock
  • ArmorDee - those helmeted green scurriers maybe (The more heavily armored version of the "big waddle dees" with 3 regular Dee inside)
  • Babut
  • BallIce - projectile
  • BallIron - projectile
  • BallLava - projectile
  • BallRock - projectile
  • Barbar - ?? (The large eels that stick out from walls in water levels and eat players)
  • Barracu - barracuda (those small green fishies that bite)
  • Beholdoo - Must be those floating guys who give Beam (Actually King Doo, the Beam miniboss)
  • Blade - Blade Knight
  • Blipper
  • Bonkers
  • Bouncy
  • Bowby - those guys who look like bow and arrows
  • Bront (Bronto Burt)
  • Broom (Broom Hatter)
  • Bulby - ?? (Plant enemies that hide in the ground then emerge when the player is near; gives Leaf ability)
  • Cappy
  • CappyHat - Cappy's hat
  • CarryDee - this is probably those gold Dees with face paint carrying the keys (it is)
  • Cerulean - ?? (Green flying enemies that resemble seeds; function similarly to Soarar from KatAM)
  • ChasekKeyDegout - those Mumbies equivalents on Halcandra
  • ChaseKeyScarfy - those red Scarfys
  • Chilly
  • Clayn - ?? (Slugs found in water levels)
  • Coldtzo - those huge ice-water-ball shooting Shotzos
  • Como
  • Craby - ?? (Blue crab enemies that try to pinch players that get too close)
  • Dee - Waddle Dee - it's the name for the Waddle Dee playable character also
  • Degout - Mumbies equivalents on Halcandra
  • Doo - Waddle Doo
  • Doubter - ?? - I don't know what this is, but there's submodels called DoubterBall, DoubterBomb, and DoubterBomb Ex, and a separate model called doubtersnake (Mr. Dooter, the boss of Raisin Ruins)
  • Dubior - ?? (Spark miniboss)
  • Dubiorjr - ?? - and a submodel called Elec (for electric?) (The small enemies Dubior summons)
  • Elec - The Spark variant of Flamer
  • Fattybuffer - Fatty Puffer
  • Flamer
  • Foley
  • Galactic - Galacta Knight probably (It is)
  • Galbo
  • Gemra - ?? (The floating Beam egg-shaped enemies found in Nutty Noon)
  • Gigantedge - ?? - there's Ex versions of this guy - means a miniboss/boss (The Sword miniboss)
  • Gigatzo - Probably those huge firecannon shotzos
  • Glunk
  • Goliath - that boss on World 3
  • Gordo

I've decompressed the models and would like to know if I can edit the above list with the identities of the different enemies.
--Podiatrist 01:52, November 1, 2011 (UTC)
Of course! That'd be excellent. Would you mind telling us the steps to decompress the models? I've got WiiScrubber 1.2 and a brres file viewer, but have no idea how to decompress the cmp files. Thanks Changtau2005
Administrator Poyo! 02:03, November 1, 2011 (UTC)
I used a decompression exe someone shared at The Spriters Resource
.BRRES Model Viewer\Converter
--Podiatrist 02:10, November 1, 2011 (UTC)
Can't seem to get it working. I got ntcompress.exe, put it in the same directory as the .cmp files and set it to run in administrator mode so it can actually read the .cmp file, then I run cmd.exe in administrator mode. I key in the command on prompt, but ntcompress.exe doesn't create the .bin file it's supposed to, but no error messages either. Is it because I'm running x64 win7? Changtau2005
Administrator Poyo! 02:40, November 1, 2011 (UTC)
Hmmm, it can't be x64 W7, since I'm running on that, too. Did you make sure to type the exact filename for the particular file you wanted to decompress? (Also, just to be sure, did you open the command prompt in the folder where you have the models and ntcompress.exe?)
--Podiatrist 03:05, November 1, 2011 (UTC)

(indent reset) Yeah they're correct. In the end I got it work by making a shortcut to ntcompress.exe and setting it ntcompress.exe -x FILENAME.brres.cmp . Have to change it for each file but it's the same as typing into cmd.exe . Thanks a lot for the info.

ACB rating

If the ESRB rating is E10+ then the ACB rating could be PG.

Enemies list issues

There's a mistake in the page's enemy list: it includes Sword Knight, but Sword Knight is not in this game. I can't edit it though, so someone else would have to fix it.

--Podiatrist 06:30, November 3, 2011 (UTC)

Is Snowl really just a redesigned Frigis? Should I put a pic of Snowl on the Frigis page, or will Snowl be getting its own page?

--Podiatrist 21:00, November 3, 2011 (UTC)

I wouldn't consider it a redisigned Frigis, since the same can be said about Pluid being a redesigned Drop (and I acutally did think Pluid was Drop). So yeah, Snowl will be getting its own page. --Game JetGameFreak WOOOOSH!

When will Walky be added in the enemy list? 99.130.162.183

So, has anyone here ever seen a Hearbell (description in enemy list above) in-game? Because I still haven't.

--Podiatrist 18:57, November 9, 2011 (UTC)

I couldn't find those spherical, green fish that Fatty Puffer spits on the list. Does that just mean they can't be included? NerdyBoutKirby Dark DaroachThat's what I am. Savvy? 04:31, November 20, 2011 (UTC)

I also didn't see the red snakes that Mr. Dooter (I LOVE DOOTER'S NAME) summons. Unless they're one of the red ones that don't have a page, they aren't on the wiki. About the hearbell, it was unused and I think someone took it off the list. Main cannon number 1 01:36, November 22, 2011 (UTC)

Secret word hidden in the level names?

Has anyone noticed the highlighted letters in each of the Level names? They letters spell out the word "CROWNED." This could possibly refer to the item the Master Crown which Magalor takes after you beat Landia. Not a hard find though but very interesting.

That's a really nice observation. Not sure if it's intentional or coincidental, but it's an interesting fact to be put under trivia, I think.Changtau2005
Administrator Poyo! 19:18, November 7, 2011 (UTC)

That must have been put there on purpose. Who would name an Ocean "Onion Ocean" when they could've called it "Soda Sea" or something? --Main cannon number 1 01:24, November 22, 2011 (UTC)

Energy Spheres

Hey guys, I saw a page about Energy Spheres a while ago, but now it's not here...is anyone going to remake another page of it or just leave it?

Super Ability Theory

Hi, guys. Pyrostar here. I think I know how the five super abilities got created.

So, you know how Kirby GCN was actually a trio of games? Well, in the third version, the copy abilities were able to be powered up.

But then that got cancelled, or turned to the new game. They might have changed their minds and given those super abilities to seperate super enemies. This is just a theory, so feel free to dissagree if you want.

On a side note, have you heard of Dimentio? He seems to be related to Magolor.
