| “ | This big slug likes to crush his foes. He spits some mean thread, too!” |
| — Cast Description • Kirby's Epic Yarn |
Sulkworm is an enemy in the Kirby series, debuting in Kirby's Epic Yarn. Their name is a portmanteau of Silkworm and Sulk.
Physical Appearance[]
Sulkworms are fat, green, caterpillar-like enemies. They have yellow and orange dots and a red and yellow osmeterium. Sulkworms bear a squiggly mouth and yellow and red eyes.
Games[]
Kirby's Epic Yarn and Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn[]
They only appear in the levels Big-Bean Vine and Castle Dedede. They spit wads of gray thread and will fall forward on top of Kirby or Prince Fluff if they get too close. They are immune to the Yarn Whip, and it takes two projectile throws or the Weight form to defeat them.
Etymology[]
Sulkworm's name is a portmanteau of "sulk" and "silkworm," referencing its appearance (although it bears greater resemblance to the swallowtail larvae than an actual silkworm).
Its Japanese name, イモセン (Imosen), comes from the Japanese word for a hairless caterpillar (most specifically the hornworm), 芋虫 (imomushi).
