Star Spit (also called Puff Out[1] or Star Bullet[2]) is an ability that has appeared in almost every Kirby game.

To star spit, Kirby must inhale an enemy, then press the attack button to spit them out as a star-like projectile.

Almost every boss and mid-boss creates something that can be inhaled and spat out, usually a star. Occasionally, stars from bosses will also give Kirby a Copy Ability, such as Mr. Shine & Mr. Bright, Dark Mind, and The Three Mage-Sisters.

If Kirby inhales two enemies, it becomes more powerful. In most games, Kirby is capable of inhaling more enemies, resulting in a more powerful shot.

In Kirby: Squeak Squad, if Kirby inhales three or more enemies, it becomes even more powerful. If Kirby inhales enough enemies in Kirby's Return to Dream Land, the star he spits becomes twice as large as him. In Kirby's Blowout Blast, when Kirby inhales enough enemies, the star he spits becomes a powerful shot called a Blaster Bullet.

Trivia

  • In Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards, this ability is functionally the same, but whatever Kirby spits out is in the same state as when he inhaled it. (However, if Kirby swallows two or more enemies, it becomes a star.)
    • Despite this, Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards artwork depicts Kirby spitting a star.
  • When Kirby inhales two objects, his star spit will resemble the Sparkling Stars.
