— Collection Item • Kirby: Squeak Squad Instruction Booklet |
Spray Paint is a collectible item found in Kirby & The Amazing Mirror and Kirby: Squeak Squad. It can be used to paint Kirby a different color. Spray Paints are found in Treasure Chests during the game and are then stored in the Collection Room, where they can freely be used by the player at any time when selecting a file.
In Kirby & The Amazing Mirror, a total of fourteen Spray Paints are found scattered throughout the Mirror World. Kirby: Squeak Squad adds 5 more colors to the list, bringing the total to nineteen Spray Paints that can be collected throughout the game.

List of alternate colors
While not necessarily Spray Paint, the following is a list of other occurrences of major character color changes in the Kirby series:
Kirby's Adventure
When Kirby does not have a Copy Ability, he appears pink. When Kirby has a Copy Ability, he will usually appear a peach color. When Kirby has the Freeze or Ice Copy Ability, he appears white with blue feet.
Kirby's Dream Course
In 2-Player Mode, Player 1 plays as Pink Kirby, while Player 2 plays as a Yellow Kirby, dubbed Keeby.
Kirby Super Star and Kirby Super Star Ultra
Like Kirby's Adventure, Kirby's color sometimes changes based on what Copy Ability he has, although there is now greater variety.
- Red: Fire
- Yellow: Beam
- Green: Plasma
- Blue: Ice
- Purple: Ninja
- White: Mirror
- Brown: Stone
- Light Brown: Suplex
Gourmet Race
Yellow Kirby also appears when playing multiplayer on Gourmet Race in Kirby Super Star Ultra. His body color is near-identical to Beam's, and his feet are a deeper red.
Sub-games
In Kirby Super Star Ultra’s touch controlled sub-games, Kirby's color is based on player.
Kirby's Dream Land 3 and Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards
Like Kirby's Adventure, Kirby's color changed to blue when possessing Ice, however, this only occurs when Kirby is actively using it and is without an Animal Friend or Power Combo.
Mini-Games
In Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards, if multiple players use the same character, the earliest instance will be the default, and additional instances will be a different color.

- Peach: Player 1
- Yellow: Player 2 (based on Keeby from Kirby's Dream Course)
- Blue: Player 3 & Blue Team (based on Ice from Kirby Super Star)
- Red: Player 4 & Red Team (based on Fire from Kirby Super Star)
- Green: Green Team (commonly known as Kusomochi Kirby)
Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. Brawl
As with Super Smash Bros., multiple colors are available per character to prevent confusion when multiple players choose the same one. Red, blue, and green are also always available due to team battles.
Kirby

In Super Smash Bros. Melee, Green Kirby retains the Kusomochi Kirby appearance, and Gray Kirby appears with a white body, black feet, and gray eyes. In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Green Kirby's now resembles his Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land appearance with orange feet, and Gray Kirby now appears more gray overall instead of having contrasting body and feet colors.

Color Change
This section contains content derived from Japanese | |

Color Change top screen in Kirby Mass Attack, displaying the Emerald Spray Paint color.
In Kirby Mass Attack, there is an unused element called Color Change, which would presumably change the color of the Kirbys; this may have gone unused due to Kirby's color change upon being damaged.[1][2] The possible colors were:
- Sapphire
- Ocean
- Chalk
- Light Pink
- Pink
- Red
- Orange
- Yellow
- Emerald
- Green
- Grape
- Shadow
- Chocolate
Kirby's Return to Dream Land
In multiplayer, Kirby's color is based on player. Unlike in Kirby Air Ride, multiple players cannot be Meta Knight, King Dedede, or Bandana Waddle Dee; as such, they are independent of player position and only use their default colors.
In gameplay, a player's color affects Pop Flowers, Ninja Dojo ninja stars, and Scope Shot reticles. In these instances, Meta Knight is considered purple, King Dedede is considered red, and Bandana Waddle Dee is considered orange.
Kirby: Triple Deluxe and Kirby Fighters Deluxe
In the Kirby Fighters sub-game or the downloadable Kirby Fighters Deluxe, in multiplayer/training mode, multiple colors are available to prevent confusion among players.
Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
Eight colors are available per character to prevent confusion when multiple players choose the same one.

While differently-colored Kirbys are not present, there are different colors of Bandana Waddle Dee based on player.
- Red: Player 2
- Green: Player 3
- Yellow: Player 4
In artwork, there is an unused Blue Waddle Dee. It is possible this was going to be the color for a potential Player 5, but it went unused due to the lack of 5-player gameplay in the final release.
Kirby: Planet Robobot, Team Kirby Clash Deluxe, and Super Kirby Clash
In the Team Kirby Clash sub-game or the downloadable Team Kirby Clash Deluxe or Super Kirby Clash, Kirby's color is based on player.
Kirby Battle Royale
In multiplayer, multiple colors are available. Due to the game's client side visuals online, colors are usually for player preference.
Waddle Dee, Meta Knight, and King Dedede are also playable characters; unlike in Kirby Air Ride, all of their colors properly correspond to the color choice, although some are particularly notable.

Trivia
- One of the selectable colors in Kirby Mass Attack’s unused Color Change made him look like Batamon from Kirby's Dream Land 3.
- In Kirby: Squeak Squad, when Kirby has the Chalk Spray Paint on (which looks like his black-and-white coloration from early Game Boy games), the Copy Ability hats, objects he holds, and his attacks become the chalk color as well.
- When Kirby has the Shadow coloration on, he resembles Shadow Kirby. When he has Sapphire on, he resembles Meta Knight. The color of the damaged, blue Kirbys in Kirby Mass Attack also resembles the Ocean coloration.
