A Spore Jelly just floats about, dropping spores on everything. Surprise!
— Cast Description • Kirby's Epic Yarn

Spore Jellies are enemies in the Kirby series, debuting in Kirby's Epic Yarn.

Physical Appearance[]

Spore Jellies appear as tan jellyfish with four brown tentacles and orange and white button eyes.

Games[]

Kirby's Epic Yarn and Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn[]

Spore Jellies only appear in Stellar Way and Outer Rings. Spore Jellies attack by releasing five small spores. If Kirby or Prince Fluff come in contact with these spores, they will be hurt and lose beads. Spore Jellies are only encountered when Kirby is in Rocket form and can be defeated by shooting star projectiles at one.

Etymology[]

Spore Jelly's name comes from "Jelly," referencing its species as a jellyfish, and "Spore," referencing its form of attack.

Its Japanese name, モクラゲン (Mokuragen), is a portmanteau of the Japanese word for jellyfish, クラゲ/くらげ/海月/水母 (kurage); and the Japanese word for algae, も/藻 (mo).

Trivia[]

  • In the official Prima guide, Spore Jellies are mistaken for Space Jellies.
