Speed Eaters is a sub-game from Kirby & The Amazing Mirror.

Gameplay[]

Four Kirbys are at a table. The table has a dish with a metallic lid on it. Occasionally, the dish is uncovered to reveal four apples or bombs. By pressing A, Kirby inhales the apples or bombs. Each apple gives the Kirby who inhaled and ate it one point, while any amount of bombs make the Kirby who inhaled it have to sit out for the next round. Whoever gets eight points first wins. If more than one Kirby presses A quickly, the four apples or bombs will be split between the Kirbys.

The Flash version of Speed Eaters

  • The Japanese Kirby & The Amazing Mirror website features a Flash version of Speed Eaters. It is a pixel-perfect recreation of the Game Boy Advance version, displayed on an image of a pink Game Boy Advance SP. The player can play by clicking the screen (which displays an A Button under the cursor) or the A Button present on the Game Boy Advance SP—the button is animated to look like it is being pressed when clicked. All three difficulty levels are present.[1]
    • Because the Flash version is based on an early build of the game, some differences are present:
      • The HUD is different. Rather than bringing up overlapping options for "Continue" and "Quit," it automatically brings up the three difficulty choices as a vertically-aligned menu.
      • Elements in the background are moved around slightly.
      • A simpler animation is used for when bombs detonate inside a Kirby.
      • All Kirbys blink in unison unless they are out of play.
      • The game's music briefly fades out before looping.
    • The game's file is titled tumami.swf.
  • The picture in the background consists of two mountains with two clouds above them. This may be a snapshot of Mustard Mountain.
  • In Kirby: Squeak Squad, a sub-game known as Speedy Teatime appears. It is basically the same game - but with added touch controls, and with the number of competitors varying, depending on the number of human players that are playing.
