Snapper is an enemy in the Kirby series, debuting in Kirby & The Amazing Mirror. It yields the Sword ability when inhaled.

Physical Appearance

Snapper resembles a smaller juvenile version of Gobbler. Its body is red has a white underbelly (peach in artwork), a blade-like dorsal fin, a constant smirk, and black shiny eyes. Unlike Gobbler however, Snappers lack pectoral fins, tail fins, and gills.

Kirby & The Amazing Mirror

Snapper is a minion of the boss of Olive Ocean, Gobbler. The shark can summon up to three of this enemy by rapidly opening and closing his mouth. Snappers hover behind their master in an L-formation but are constantly in motion. When their master darts across the screen, they slowly follow him, moving somewhat unpredictably through the water. Due to Gobbler's default positions on the left or right edge of the screen, Snappers will often hover partially or entirely off-screen; as a result, one or more of them may vanish altogether when the boss moves around.

Gobbler sends his Snappers out to attack by moving his jaw three times. The enemies move in specific patterns: The first pursues Kirby but cannot leave the water, the second jumps out of the water and over the middle platform, and the third behaves like the first. Snapper bites Kirby if it successfully hits him (unless Kirby is out of the water, in which case the foe simply crashes into him). If a Snapper misses Kirby, it often swims off-screen and disappears. It should be noted that the enemies do not always obey Gobbler, sometimes hanging back when called to attack or repeating the same attack pattern multiple times in a row.

Snapper can be defeated with a single inhale or three hits from Kirby's Water Gun attack. The foe's Copy Ability, Sword, is especially effective against Gobbler, as it is one of the few that can be used underwater.
