Sheld is an enemy in the Kirby series, debuting in Kirby's Return to Dream Land. It yields no Copy Ability when inhaled.

Physical Appearance[]

Sheld is a small blue creature with a pink underbelly and two small green feet. It has a tail, black eyes with a light blue shade, and a metal helmet, slightly resembling a rhinoceros. This helmet is adorned with a horn on the front.

Games[]

Kirby's Return to Dream Land, Kirby's Dream Collection Special Edition, Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe[]

Sheld attacks by trying to ram into Kirby. It is the most persistent foe in the game, as it jumps onto platforms, hops over enemies, and turns around when needed as it pursues Kirby. Sheld's helmet provides it abundant defense, making it one of the more resilient enemies in the game. Futhermore, getting hit by Sheld will make Kirby drop whatever Copy Ability he has (if he has one). Kirby can destroy the helmet to lower Sheld's defense. Once he has done so, the enemy will slowly wander in the opposite direction, panicking. Through the use of certain moves, such as Ice Kirby's Ice Suction, Sheld can be defeated without its helmet being destroyed.

In Kirby's Dream Collection Special Edition, Sheld appears in the New Challenge Stages mode, specifically in the Fighter Combat Chamber.

Kirby: Triple Deluxe and Kirby: Planet Robobot[]

In Kirby: Triple Deluxe, Sheld underwent minor changes. It still attacks the same way it does in the other two games, but it doesn't completely face the side when running and it does not knock out Kirby's Copy Ability when it hits him. The enemy is slightly smaller and doesn't squeal when its helmet is destroyed. An unarmored Sheld retreats much faster as well.

Etymology[]

Sheld's name is a portmanteau of the words "shell" and "shield," referencing its form of defense.

Trivia[]

  • Behavior-wise, Sheld is similar to Gabon. Like Gabon, it has a type of armor and flees when that armor is removed. Both appear in Kirby: Planet Robobot and while Gabon reappears in Kirby Star Allies, Sheld does not.
