Kirby Wiki

Searching the Oasis is the twenty-third stage in Kirby and the Forgotten Land. It is the second stage of Originull Wasteland. It succeeds The Wastes Where Life Began and precedes Alivel Mall (Staff Side).

General Information[]

Kirby lands in an abandoned village near an oasis. Poison infests much of the stage. After proceeding past a narrow area surrounded by poison and jumping over some water, a Sssnacker will attack Kirby. Behind it, there is a Gotcha Capsule. Nearby, a Sir Kibble throws a boomerang across 3 flowerpots suspended over poison. If Kirby inhaled the Sir Kibble for the Cutter ability, he can chop down the Grass in a small path leading to a secret pool. The pool area contains a Noddy, Waddle Dee, Star Coin pile, and food items. Kirby can then head back down the main path, dodge past a Poison Croakom, and move to the next section via Warp Star.

The next section is mostly linear, with several Totengas and Sir Kibbles occasionally guarding the path. Several Totengas spawn around a poison circle not far ahead, and a Gotcha Capsule can be found to the left of the ring. After proceeding forward, the player may notice a ladder inside a tower blocked off by a gate. If they maneuver around a Poison Croakom, they can find a ladder on the bottom-right corner. Climbing up it and navigating across the moving platforms leads to a dome guarded by a Totenga and Foley. Defeating them and using Dome Mouth reveals a ladder, and going down leads to a pipe. Using Pipe Mouth skips a Door and has Kirby make several jumps over poison, gaps, and through Totengas. Kirby then must make one big jump over a gap to break through a cracked wall. Doing so reveals a Waddle Dee, food, and a Star Coin pile. He can then head through a door to go to the final section.

Right away, Kirby should inhale a Digguh to use the Drill ability. A Poison Croakom on an upper level with bombard the player with poison. Kirby can proceed past it and inhale the water from a pipe to use Water-Balloon Mouth on the Poison Croakoms and poison piles. If he spits water on a poison pile in front of a gate, he can use Drill to burrow under an opening and enter a Door. Kirby must then use Drill to collect Collect pieces in holes to open a gate containing a Waddle Dee. After rescuing the Waddle Dee and proceeding, Kirby can go under another gate and hit a Switch, which causes the water pipe from earlier to rise up to the current floor. Kirby can once again use Water-Balloon Mouth to clear away poison and enemies, including another Poison Croakom. If he clears away the rightmost pile of sludge, he can recover a Gotcha Capsule. After making it past the Poison Croakom and Totengas, the goal is right past a pool.

Missions[]

Italicized missions are hidden from view on the player's first playthrough.

  • Clear the stage: When Kirby clears the stage for the first time, he will automatically rescue 3 Waddle Dee prisoners from the golden cage.
  • Save the hidden Waddle Dees: 5 Waddle Dee prisoners can be found here, their locations being the following:
    • Over the secret pool.
    • On the second high-up moving platform above the second Poison Croakom.
    • Behind the cracked wall in the Pipe Mouth segment.
    • Behind the gate in the Drill sub-area; Kirby must obtain 5 underground Collect pieces.
    • Behind the second defeatable Poison Croakom.
  • Take a nap by the secret pool: If Kirby follows the path filled with Grass, he can find a secret pool. He can then inhale a Noddy to briefly use the Sleep ability to rest on a pool chair, which completes the mission.
  • Defeat 2 Poison Croakoms: At the end of the stage, Kirby can use Water-Balloon Mouth to defeat 2 Poison Croakoms, both of which are in plain sight.
  • Diligent digging in the secret room: In the final sub-area, Drill Kirby must collect 5 Collect pieces to save a Waddle Dee and complete the mission.

Blueprint[]

The Buzz-Saw Cutter Blueprint can be found in this stage. Right after fighting 3 Totengas in a ring of poison, Kirby can drop down to a ledge north of the following platform. The ledge contains a Treasure Chest, which contains the Blueprint. The Blueprint can be used to evolve the Cutter ability at Waddle Dee's Weapons Shop.

Trivia[]

  • If Kirby obtains Water-Balloon Mouth in the final section and drops down to the lowest floor, he can spit water on the rightmost pile of poison. Doing so rewards him with a Blue Star Coin.
