Kirby Wiki

Scale the Cement Summit is the ninth stage in Kirby and the Forgotten Land. It is the third stage of Everbay Coast. It succeeds Concrete Isles and precedes Fast-Flowing Waterworks.

General Information[]

This stage revolves around climbing large towers and introducing the player to the Arch Mouth. Upon beginning the stage, Kirby lands at the bottom of a giant stone tower, with quite a few enemies in view. A Glunk and Needlous are in the same area Kirby starts at, and two Foleys attack Kirby once he makes it to the second floor. After climbing a few ladders guarded by Shotzos and Gordos, Kirby can find a floor with 2 divided parts; one has a Blueprint, while the other has a Bomb Block which when destroyed spawns a Gotcha Capsule. After proceeding upwards, Kirby has to climb a ladder while under heavy fire from 3 more Shotzos to reach the Warp Star. This takes Kirby to the next part of the level.

At the beginning of this segment, Kirby is offered a food item as well as Cutter and Ice Copy Essences. Once he takes his desired ability, he is forced to fight Fleurina. After defeating her, he should inhale her and obtain the Tornado ability. Kirby can use the ability to climb a new tower, this one structured such that he must go back and forth while moving up. Several enemies are placed along the tower, but pose no challenge to Tornado's speed. A pool containing a few Blippers and a crate with another Gotcha Capsule inside can be found near the top of the tower. At the very top, some Poppy Bros. Jrs throw bombs down a slope. When defeated, the player can access the arch behind them to use Arch Mouth.

In the Arch Mouth section, Kirby is taught how to use it by flying through several Star Coin rings and defeating several enemies in the way. Eventually, the player reaches a more difficult section in a flooded area with Gigatzos shooting at the player and moving pillars attempting to block the player's flight. If crashed into, the player must restart the section. Immediately upon exiting, the player can either go to the left or break a cracked wall on the right to collect several red Coin Star Rings and a Waddle Dee. Once finished gliding, Kirby lands on a small island and discards the Arch Mouth. He can use a blue Warp Star to head back and restart the section if the player wants to retry. If not, the goal is right ahead.

Missions[]

Italicized missions are hidden from view on the player's first playthrough.

  • Clear the stage: When Kirby clears the stage for the first time, he will automatically rescue 3 Waddle Dee prisoners from the golden cage.
  • Save the hidden Waddle Dees: 4 Waddle Dee prisoners can be found here, their locations being the following:
    • Behind a filing cabinet on a balcony underneath the floor with 4 Walfs.
    • Spawned on a timer by a red switch, disappearing if not collected after a few seconds.
    • In a hidden room where Kirby must use Tornado to activate switches while flying over spikes, behind a gate.
    • Along the path behind the cracked wall in the Arch Mouth section.
  • Remove 3 wanted posters: Wanted posters displaying Kirby can be hit with any attack to be destroyed. Their locations are:
    • At the beginning of the level, on the right wall after climbing the first ladder.
    • Found on a wall right after the second Waddle Dee.
    • Hidden amongst several trees on the right side of the goal island.
  • Avoid the spikes in the secret room: If Kirby clears the room containing the third Waddle Dee without ever touching spikes, the mission will be completed after rescuing the Waddle Dee.
  • Freeze Fleurina with an Ice ability: In the battle against Fleurina, Kirby must attack the mid-boss with Ice or an ability in its evolution line enough such that she completely freezes. This is difficult to do, as she removes all ice from herself whenever she starts spinning.

Blueprint[]

The Clutter Needle Blueprint can be found in a small hole created after destroying a Bomb Block. The Blueprint can be used to evolve the Needle ability at Waddle Dee's Weapons Shop.
