I'm Plugg! What? Never heard of me?
— Plugg • Kirby Star Allies

Plugg is an enemy resembling a walking electrical plug, who originated in Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards. He yields the Spark or Plasma ability when inhaled, depending on the game. He also serves as the Plasma ability's Helper in Kirby Star Allies.

Physical Appearance

In Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards, Plugg resembles a cyan outlet plug with round, black eyes, yellow prongs, and green feet.

In Kirby Star Allies, he still retains his original appearance, though his body appears slightly more greenish, his prongs are now noticeably shorter and have holes in them. The bottom of his backside now has a single screw present. As a Friend, Plugg wears the crown portion of the Plasma hat, with sparks emanating from his prongs. Like all Friends, he assumes a yellow color scheme as player 2, blue as player 3, and green as player 4.

Games

Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards

Plugg attacks by jumping into the air, flipping upside-down, and "plugging" himself into the ground, which shoots two electrical currents (that end with electrical balls) across the ground from each side. When held above Kirby's head, Plugg does nothing. If Kirby throws Plugg and he hits a wall, he sticks to the wall for a short while.

Kirby Star Allies

Plugg reappears as a regular enemy and as a friend in Kirby Star Allies.

Etymology

Plugg is named after the object he resembles, a plug.

Its Japanese name, コンセ (Konse), comes from the Japanese word for concentric plug, コンセント (Konsento).

Related Quotes

Of little danger when just walking around, Pluggs can hurt Kirby only when they jump up and "plug" themselves into the ground, releasing a spark that zaps anyone standing too close. They're fairly slow-moving and Kirby can easily avoid them.

Trivia

  • Plugg, Sawyer, Snipper, , and Ghost Knight are the only enemies that debuted in Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards to reappear elsewhere in the series.
    • Of those five, only Plugg and Snipper appear in the flesh.
  • In one of the official Kirby Twitter's character columns, it is stated that Plugg's enhanced Plasma abilities in Kirby Star Allies are a result of him having received some sort of remodeling since Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards, hence his current design's newly added screw.[1]
