You can swap three Play Coins for a keychain. Want to get a keychain?
— Description • Kirby: Triple Deluxe

Play Coins are a form of virtual currency used by members of the Nintendo 3DS family. They can be collected by walking with the system, earning a coin for every 100 steps taken. A maximum of 10 Play Coins can be earned a day. Some games in the Kirby series utilize these.

Physical Appearance[]

A Play Coin is a golden coin with an image of a Nintendo 3DS on each face.

Games[]

Kirby: Triple Deluxe and Kirby: Planet Robobot[]

When viewing the Keychain Collection in Kirby: Triple Deluxe or the Sticker Room in Kirby: Planet Robobot, the player can spend Play Coins to earn a random keychain or sticker. One collectible costs three Play Coins and only five collectibles can be purchased in one sitting. If the player desires to buy more, he/she must complete a stage and come back.

When Play Coins are spent, Kirby appears and inhales them. After swallowing, he tosses a keychain or sticker into the air, where it is then revealed. Only normal keychains and stickers can be purchased with Play Coins.

In the Super Smash Bros. series[]

In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, the player can choose to spend Play Coins on trophies at the Trophy Shop instead of gold.
