“ | The lone illusory foe that you encountered outside of Forgo Dreams. When Fecto Forgo tried to control Meta Knight like it had King Dedede, the experienced swordsman came out on top through sheer force of will... but the result was this mysterious doppelgänger, formed by the residual psychic energy!” |
— Capsule • Kirby and the Forgotten Land |
Phantom Meta Knight is a boss in the Kirby series, debuting in Kirby and the Forgotten Land. It is an illusory copy of Meta Knight formed when Fecto Forgo tried to take control of Meta Knight.
Physical Appearance[]
Phantom Meta Knight has an identical physical appearance to Meta Knight. However, its coloring differs. Phantom Meta Knight has teal colored skin and pauldrons, with the color appearing similar to Fecto Forgo's Chimera form. The armor on its shoulder has a hot pink lining, which is also present on the salmon colored mask it is wearing. Lastly, Phantom Meta Knight dons lime gloves and purple shoes. Its eyes have a hot pink exterior with a white center.
It also wields what is essentially a perfect replica of Galaxia, excluding the hot pink hilt and tinge of pink that covers the entire sword. If Phantom Meta Knight's Galaxia is taken, he will instead wield the same normal sword with yellow hilt that is used by Meta Knight in the same scenario.
General Information[]
Phantom Meta Knight was formed at some point when Fecto Forgo attempted to take control over Meta Knight and use him for its own purposes. However, Meta Knight was able to resist the attempted mind control, but the clash between the two was so intense, residual energy ended up shaping into Phantom Meta Knight. It is only fought in the Colosseum, and is stated to exist outside of Fecto Forgo's dreamscape, where the other Phantom bosses are fought, Isolated Isles: Forgo Dreams.
Games[]
Kirby and the Forgotten Land[]
Phantom Meta Knight is fought during The Ultimate Cup Z as a replacement for Meta Knight. Its attacks are much more fierce, and it expands upon much of Meta Knight's moveset.
When he charges for Upper Calibur with low health, he will summon a clone and the two will rush towards Kirby together. In order to initiate the button mashing sequence, Kirby must be facing the real Phantom Meta Knight to do so, which is hinted by himself as he will leave a trail of stars that can be inhaled.
Trivia[]
- Phantom Meta Knight is the only phantom counterpart that does not appear in Isolated Isles: Forgo Dreams. Instead, it can only be encountered in The Ultimate Cup Z.
- In the figure description for Phantom Meta Knight, it is said that Meta Knight avoided Fecto Forgo's mind control due to "sheer force of will". This could imply that either Fecto Forgo's psychic powers are weaker than the Jamba Hearts and the Haltmann Works Company's Mecha Knight armor, due to their successful corruption of Meta Knight, or that Meta Knight has mentally trained to be able to resist mind control on a similar level.
