Pacto is a yellow, mouth-like enemy in Kirby's Dream Land 3. It is invincible in Kirby: Canvas Curse, because tapping them with the stylus does nothing, while they can be defeated in all other appearances with a Copy Ability. Pacto's name suggests that it may be based off Pac-Man, a famous video game hero.

In the sub-game Paint Panic, Paint Roller may have the player paint a Pacto.

Pacto also appears in Kirby's Return to Dream Land and Kirby: Triple Deluxe. It often takes multiple hits to defeat, but in exchange for this these are the only two games where Kirby can inhale (more specifically super inhale) the beast, which does not grant a copy ability if swallowed. In addition, a white, cloudy variant of Pacto appears in Nutty Noon, and a flowery variant appears in Wild World; both are identical to the original in behavior.

Appearance

Pacto is a large, yellow creature. It has red, sharp teeth and a single eye with a small pupil. It attacks by hiding in a hole or open area and jumps out to eat Kirby. It also has what appears to be small legs. The enemy Maw from Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards heavily resembles Pacto, and also has similar attack patterns.

Trivia

  • Pacto and Dekabu are the only enemies in Kirby's Dream Land 3 to be instantly destroyed by the Ice ability. As larger foes, they would have required a larger ice block sprite to encase them -- this is likely the reason they cannot be frozen.
