Northeast Frost Street is the seventeenth stage in Kirby and the Forgotten Land. It is the first stage of Winter Horns. It succeeds Danger under the Big Top and precedes Metro on Ice.

General Information[]

Kirby and Elfilin enter a dilapidated, snow-covered city via a Warp Star, traversing its streets. At the start, Kirby can see the road laid out ahead of him, with several enemies along the path. Kirby can also find a food item inside some Star Blocks near a tree on the right. After a few gates, a Corori standing atop a staircase can be found, which can be avoided by hitting a Bomb Block that opens up a part of the wall. This allows Kirby to dodge the Corori's snowballs and collect a Gotcha Capsule. Once he reaches the top of the staircase, Kirby must traverse flat terrain with several pits that he may fall into. He will also encounter several ranged enemies such as Bernards and Sir Kibbles hiding behind cover. There is a vending machine on the left side guarded by 2 Poppy Bros. Jrs. which Kirby can use later to break open several shutters. The last part of this section contains more enemies as well as a shutter on the left and right side. The left shutter contains a few Star Coins and another Gotcha Capsule. The right shutter contains a Waddle Dee prisoner. After breaking the shutters, Kirby can proceed to the next section with a Warp Star.

This section heavily focuses on platforms that tilt back and forth. Kirby must first defeat another Poppy Bros. Jr. hiding behind a few crates before fighting a Corori on a tilting platform. He can also find a red Star Coin in a small opening in the wall which is only accessible when a tilting platform is on one side. After this platform, Kirby can use the Ranger ability to shoot a Flying Target while standing on some Breakable Blocks. If he is successful, Star Coins fall from the sky and a Round-Trip Door opens. Upon entering the room, Kirby must snipe a pink Switch to open a small gate temporarily, then shoot the Flying Target moving quickly behind the gate. Once he manages to hit the target, a staircase rises up from a pit and provides Kirby with a path to rescue another Waddle Dee. After completing this and leaving the room, Kirby must face two more tilting platforms and several enemies before finding a giant tilting platform. This platform contains 3 Cororis, which throw snowballs that change direction based on where the platform tilts. After defeating them, Kirby can enter the final section of the stage.

Upon entering the final section, Kirby briefly has a view of the many obstacles above. Here, he must use the Stairs Mouth several times to proceed upwards. The first part is rather simple, only having a ladder guarded by a Poppy Bros. Jr. and a Corori on the above floor. On the second floor, Kirby can use the Stairs Mouth to break Durable Blocks on the left and recieve a Gotcha Capsule from doing so. He can then dodge a Corori's snowballs and a Poppy Bros. Jr's. bombs to place stairs in the right spot, then proceed to the next area. This section immediately offers scaffolding that Kirby can climb to reach another ladder, but features a cracked wall on the right. To destroy this, Kirby can use Stairs Mouth from a staircase found on the above floor, jump down on the left side, and proceed forward to the wall. Several Cororis spawn on the above floor, bombarding the path with snowballs. If he can make it through, Kirby can destroy the wall and squash a Buffahorn behind it to recieve several food items and the final Waddle Dee. Kirby can then proceed back up to defeat a Gabon and several other enemies while activating three green Switches. These cause a staircase leading to the goal to appear. After this, the goal is directly ahead.

Missions[]

Italicized missions are hidden from view on the player's first playthrough.

  • Clear the stage: When Kirby clears the stage for the first time, he will automatically rescue 3 Waddle Dee prisoners from the golden cage.
  • Save the hidden Waddle Dees: 4 Waddle Dee prisoners can be found here, their locations being the following:
    • Behind the rightmost shutter and 2 Cororis near the end of the first section.
    • In the bonus room in the second area, where Kirby must shoot a quickly-moving Flying Target to reveal a staircase leading to it.
    • Behind a Bomb Block in a small crevice on the final tilting platform; Kirby can only access the block when the platform is tilted to the left.
    • Behind the cracked wall in the final section, in the ceiling where Kirby can only reach it with Stairs Mouth.
  • Destroy 4 animal snow structures: 4 Awoofy snow sculptures are hidden around the stage, and Kirby can destroy them with any attack. Their locations are:
    • Near the beginning of the stage, behind the Bernard.
    • In the upper-right corner of the platform containing a Warp Star at the end of the first section.
    • Hidden on a small ledge found after the bonus room; Kirby must notice a few stairs under the part of the platform leading to another tilting platform.
    • To the right of the stairs at the top floor of the final section.
  • Find the side alley: Near the start of the stage, Kirby can find a small crevice in the wall directly after the gate on the left. Entering it reveals a pile of Star Coins and an Awoofy sleeping on a bench.
  • Reach the clock tower: At the end of the stage, Kirby can see a clock tower off to the left of the goal. He can float over to it to collect a sparkling spot, which causes several blue Star Coins to fall from the sky and an orange Warp Star to spawn.

Trivia[]

  • The music that plays in Northeast Frost Street is similar to the music that plays in Planet Earthfall from Kirby Star Allies, "Winds across Earthfall"; both songs were composed by Yuuta Ogasawara. According to Shinya Kumazaki, the director of the Kirby series, this was an intentional decision, as he wanted a song to have the same atmosphere as "Winds across Earthfall", which represents the outer space setting and plays on the stage set in the fall.[1]
  • The time depicted on the clock tower is 4:27, which references the Japanese release date of Kirby's Dream Land, that being April 27, or 4/27.
