Nintendo Today! is a Nintendo-themed calendar app for smartphones that gives direct news updates to various Nintendo properties, with content including the Kirby franchise.
Kirby theme[]
On 9/11/2025, an update to the app added a Kirby theme. At the top of the app is an animation that plays depending on the day of the month, plus any animations for seasons, birthdays, and/or holidays. This feature debuted on September 12, 2025.
| Day | Description |
|---|---|
| 1 | Kirby is holding something in his mouth as he takes a few steps back before spitting it out as a Star Bullet, revealing that it is the number 1. Kirby then waves to the camera. |
| 2 | Bandana Waddle Dee flies toward a waving Kirby using his Waddle Copter technique; after landing, he and Kirby pose together, with the number "2" appearing between them. |
| 3 | The Three Mage-Sisters enter from stage left, with Zan Partizanne in front, Francisca to her left and Flamberge to her right; Zan Partizanne spins and strikes a pose, to which Francisca and Flamberge follow soon afterward. The date appears after the three have each posed. |
| 4 | Kirby goes fishing and reels in a catch; his catch is the number "4," which falls onto his head and lands beside him. Kirby continues to stare upward, confused about what had happened. |
| 5 | King Dedede, lying down, scratches his belly and yawns before the date appears. |
| 6 | Kirby sees what appears to be the number "9." He then jumps into the air and uses Stone's Heavy Smash, transforming into a Kirby Statue, to slam into the ground, sending the "9" spinning up into the air, where it then orients itself into the number "6," after which the full date appears. |
| 7 | Kirby performs a Kirby Dance, with the date appearing after striking the final pose. |
| 8 | Magolor sneaks up on and taps Kirby from behind. When Kirby turns around to see who had tapped him, Magolor swiftly moves out of the way and laughs as Kirby is dumbfounded, not finding anyone behind him. Afterward, the date appears. |
| 9 | A Waddle Dee waves to his left, then to his right, calling four Waddle Dees to each side of him for a total of nine Waddle Dees. The Waddle Dee then raises his arms, with the others also raising their arms or jumping, as the number "9" appears above him. |
| 10 | Sleep Kirby falls asleep. |
| 11 | A Waddle Dee sleeps under a tree when an apple falls on his head. As the Waddle Dee wakes up, the camera zooms out to reveal he was sleeping underneath Whispy Woods. |
| 12 | Kirby and King Dedede race to get a slice of cake; Dedede trips in an attempt to get ahead, allowing Kirby to speed past him and grab the cake as the date appears. |
| 13 | Car-Mouth Kirby passes by an Awoofy sleeping on a bench at the Point of Arrival, with two Awoofies chasing after him. Kirby then turns in front of the abandoned building to look at the viewer as the date appears. |
| 14 | Kirby swimming underwater. |
| 15 | Kirby's Adventure Goal Game, with the date appearing after Kirby lands on the topmost cloud. |
| 16 | Kirby rolls along the ground and jumps over a yellow hurdle. He then jumps over a yellow "1" before falling into the hole in a yellow "6" that makes up the day's date, "16." |
| 17 | Kirby inhales Super Blade Knight and transforms into Ultra Sword, striking a pose as the date appears. |
| 18 | Meta Knight flies through the bottom hole of the "8" in "18," then the top hole, then turns around and flies toward the viewer as the full date is shown. |
| 19 | Kirby inhales some apples, cake, and a Star Block, and swallows, before getting hit by the numbers "1" and "9" that make up the day's date, "19," which then drop back on screen afterward, to Kirby's puzzlement. |
| 20 | Kirby flying on his Warp Star flying behind the "20" before flying in front of it and then flying toward the viewer as the full date is shown. |
| 21 | At Honey Hill, Susie waves at the viewer, Taranza adjusts his scarf and hair, and Kirby floats in, all three gathered around a Darling Dreamstalk, after which the date appears. |
| 22 | Meta Knight flies in and bisects the number "2," posing right before the 2 splits and creates the number "22" before showing the full date. |
| 23 | Kirby and Elfilin dance at the end of Point of Arrival, with the date showing up at the end. |
| 24 | Kirby floats through the sky, surrounded by floating Star Blocks. As Kirby struggles to keep floating, the date appears. |
| 25 | A Waddle Dee holding a "2" and a Waddle Dee holding a "5" walk toward each other and pose in the air to create the number "25" as the date appears. |
| 26 | Kirby pulls up the "Get it!" sword and becomes Sword Kirby, with the date appearing as Kirby poses with his sword raised. |
| 27 | The animation starts zoomed in on Dedede's face before zooming out, after which Dedede hammers a stake, causing the date to appear. |
| 28 | Kirby rides his Warp Star while holding three Waddle Dees in tow before the date appears. |
| 29 | Kirby waves his arms at the viewer, then rubs to approach them before running into the screen and falling over. Kirby then sits down and thinks about his silly experience as the date appears. |
| 30 | Parasol Kirby and a Parasol Waddle Dee slowly drift down through the skies before the date appears. |
| 31 | |
| Spring | |
| Summer | |
| Autumn | On Falluna Moon, Artist Kirby and Adeleine paint a Full Belly Kirby and Ice Dragon, respectively, before the date appears. |
| Halloween | Beam Mage Kirby charges up a Time Beam, but instead has candy rain on top of him. Kirby then pops out of the pile of candy before "HALLOWEEN" appears above, followed by the date. |
| Winter | |
| Birthday | The camera zooms out from the cake from Kirby's Dream Buffet. Kirby pops out from behind the cake and tilts his head to the right, then left, then back to the right, admiring the cake. The words "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" then appear in the top left, followed by the date. |

Kirby Dream Land Directory[]
A section that covers various characters in the Kirby series. Each character is given background information and has various artwork displayed.
| Character | Description | Games Through the Years |
|---|---|---|
| Kirby | A young traveler who rode into Dream Land on a spring breeze. He wound up living in Dream Land after setting out to return all of the food King Dedede had stolen. He has a special ability called the Copy Ability, which allows him to absorb powers from inhaled enemies and make them his own.
Kirby has tried out all kinds of things, from high-speed racing to transforming into a ball. He's pretty laid-back, but when push comes to shove, he'll fight to protect those around him. |
|
| King Dedede | The self-proclaimed king of Dream Land. His star-stamped hammer is his pride and joy, but he can also inhale and spit out enemies just like Kirby. The hat he wears is actually his crown. He has a castle on Mt. Dedede, where he cooks up trouble with his minions.
He tries to keep Dream Land safe, and sometimes helps out Kirby in a pinch. Any way you look at it, he has a kind side too. |
|
| Waddle Dee | Waddle Dees are the carefree inhabitants of Dream Land. They have a whole lot of buddies, and come in different types. There are some Waddle Dees that serve King Dedede, and there's one that wears a bandana and fights alongside Kirby.
Some can even be found skiing or piloting robots. Try and see what types of Waddle Dees you can find in different games! |
|
| Whispy Woods | Whispy Woods, a familiar boss from throughout the series. He is the Guardian of the Forest on Planet Popstar and has a blank, staring face. He attacks by dropping apples and Capillers, but his eyes fill with tears when Kirby defeats him. | |
| Kracko | Kracko, the troublemaker in the sky. He first appeared in Kirby's Dream Land. He appears out of the sky and flies around firing off beams and lightning bolts. He attacks by shooting out big-eyed Waddle Doos and other junk from the inside of his cloudy body. | |
| Waddle Doo | Waddle Doos have one big eyeball, and two or three strands of hair on their heads. They closely resemble Waddle Dees, but these guys are able to fire a whip-like beam from their eye. In Kirby: Canvas Curse, they also show up in the shape of a ball. | |
| Meta Knight | Meta Knight, a masked knight shrouded in mystery. He first appeared in Kirby's Adventure, but no-one knows his true identity. He is skilled in the art of sword fighting, and can unleash a barrage of attacks with his speedy movements. He has fought against Kirby a number of times, but also frequently serves as an ally.
Meta Knight also captains a large battleship known as the Halberd. He is relied upon by his four underlings, the Meta-Knights. He also actually has a sweet tooth. |
|
| Bonkers | The wild, gorilla-like creature Bonkers. He first appeared in Kirby's Adventure. When Kirby inhales him, the powerful "Hammer" Copy Ability can be used. The secret to Bonkers' muscles is perhaps the constant throwing of coconuts. Or maybe it's the bananas he loves so much? | |
| Mr. Frosty | Mr. Frosty wears overalls over his impressive physique, and draws attention with his steely gaze. He attacks by charging at Kirby and throwing ice, and can also freeze Kirby by stuffing him into his mouth. He taunts Kirby by wiggling his bottom.. don't fall for it! | |
| Nightmare | Nightmare is wrapped in a starry cloak. He has two forms: Nightmare's Power Orb and Nightmare Wizard. In Kirby's Adventure, he conspires to afflict the residents of Dream Land with nightmares. | |
| Rick | Rick is a hamster-like creature with cute, round eyes. He made his first appearance in Kirby's Dream Land 2. He's an ally that carries Kirby on his back during their adventures, and skillfully performs acrobatic tricks like parasol spinning and ball rolling.
In Kirby Star Allies, if he sits still by himself, he'll start to doze off... You can even see him roll over in his sleep. |
|
| Kine | Kine and his big yellow mouth. He first appeared in Kirby's Dream Land 2 as an ally that carries Kirby in his mouth while swimming. As expected from his fishy appearance he's pretty good at moving about in water.
When using the "Ice" Copy Ability with Kirby, Kine will freeze the enemies around him... But if he keeps using it, he'll clumsily freeze himself as well. |
|
| Coo | The owl-like creature, Coo. He's an ally that can fly freely in the sky with Kirby clasped firmly in his talons. He made his first appearance in Kirby's Dream Land 2, alongside Rick and Kine.
Combined with Kirby's Copy Abilities, Coo is able to use a range of abilities while flying. With the "Parasol" Copy Ability, he will hold the parasol above his head and attack while spinning. With the "Cutter" Copy Ability, he will skillfully fire off feathers. |
|
| Broom Hatter | Broom Hatter sports a wizard's hat. In Kirby's Dream Land 3 and Kirby Star Allies, he can grant the "Cleaning" Copy Ability. He's often seen cleaning throughout the series, but in Kirby's Air Ride [sic] he can join in the races by flying through the sky on his broom. The face beneath his hat is a total mystery. | |
| Bandana Waddle Dee | Bandana Waddle Dee and his trademark blue bandana! He is one of many Waddle Dees, and he stood in Kirby's way as he marched into the castle in Kirby Super Star Ultra.
Since the events of Kirby's Return to Dream Land, he has often joined Kirby on his adventures as an ally, showing off his skillful spear moves. |
|
| Dyna Blade | Dyna Blade, a giant bird with white wings. She was initially hostile to Kirby as she ravaged the crops of Dream Land, but it seems she was only doing it to look after her chicks. When Kirby found himself in a pinch during a battle against Meta Knight, she bravely came to Kirby's aid as thanks for previously sharing his food with her chicks. She then safely delivered Kirby to Meta Knight's battleship. | |
| Ribbon | The fairy Ribbon first appeared in Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards. When her home planet of Ripple Star was beset by clouds of Dark Matter, she took the Crystal and escaped into outer space. She then found her way to Planet Popstar where she first met Kirby. She sets off with Kirby and the others on a journey to collect the scattered Crystal Shards.
She faces off against a powerful enemy alongside Kirby during the last stage of the story. |
|
| Adeleine | Adeleine and her trademark red beret. She goes on a journey with Kirby and the others in Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards. She has the mysterious power to make the things she draws come to life, and helps others out by drawing pictures of food.
She appears in Kirby Star Allies as one of the Dream Friends alongside Ribbon, where they perform Friend Abilities together. |
|
| Noddy | Noddy, looking cute in his nightcap, is the only character from which Kirby can acquire the "Sleep" Copy Ability. He's known for the way he takes a few steps and then falls asleep. He can be found sitting in unexpected places, suddenly appearing in large numbers, and is a nuisance that can cause Kirby to fall asleep all over the place. | |
| Cappy | The mushroom-like creature, Cappy. He first appeared in Kirby's Dream Land, and is always found bouncing around or throwing his cap. He gets embarrassed when people see his face without his cap. | |
| Gordo | Gordo is a prickly character from the Kirby's Dream Land series. With his tough body and sharp spikes, he's difficult to defeat or even inhale... In other words, he's practically invincible?! Whispy Woods even drops a giant Gordo in Super Kirby Clash. | |
| Knuckle Joe | Knuckle Joe is a fighter aiming for the top. He will suddenly start throwing punches and kicking as soon as Kirby gets close. He challenges Kirby to a fight while training with star pieces in Kirby's Star Stacker. | |
| Chef Kawasaki | Chef Kawasaki, the gourmet chef. He is one of the few characters from whom Kirby can acquire the "Cook" Copy Ability. He's known for his various attacks, including plate throwing and catching Kirby with his extendible ladle to cook him up. In Kirby Star Allies, he serves up food as a friend. | |
| Chilly | Chilly is a snowman with burly eyebrows. He is skilled at emitting icy air attacks and can freeze Kirby solid. If he becomes one of Kirby's helpers, they'll go on adventures together, even venturing into hotter locations. | |
| Blipper | Blippers can often be seen in the sea. They like to swim around underwater in their goggles, but sometimes you'll see them jumping about on land. They're usually red in color, but you can occasionally find rare Blippers that are green or gold, depending on the game. | |
| Marx | Marx is a little jester who loves to get up to mischief. He caused a serious intergalactic incident when he tried to take Planet Popstar, home to Kirby and his friends, for himself. He has a cute face, but he wields many powerful abilities, such as warping to attack and firing off lasers.
His most terrifying ability is splitting himself in half and creating a "Black Hole" that will attract anyone inside... |
|
| Gooey | Gooey, a strange and squishy ally. He joined Kirby on his adventure in Kirby's Dream Land 3. He can trap enemies with his long tongue and can copy their abilities too. He can even swallow up enemies that Kirby can't inhale.
If Kirby inhales Gooey, his health will be restored. As for why that is... Nobody knows. |
|
| Nago | Nago, a cat-like friend of Kirby's. He can use Kirby to perform amazing and amusing friend abilities. For example, he can use the "Cleaning" ability to turn Kirby into a dust cloth to wipe the floor, or the "Stone" ability to slam Kirby into the ground like a rock.
Nago may look sweet, but he'll give an intense glare if Kirby chooses another friend over him. |
|
| ChuChu | ChuChu is an ally of Kirby's, standing out with her big red bow. She clings to Kirby's head to stick and move around on the ceiling, and can fly around a little. ChuChu and Kirby can spin around together using Kirby's "Parasol" Copy Ability, and can ride through the sky on a broom with the "Cleaning" Copy Ability.
Nyupun, who is yellow and wears a hat, is ChuChu's best friend. |
|
| Pitch | Pitch, a smal, light-green friend of Kirby's. Even though Kirby is much bigger, Pitch can carry him on his back at they go on their adventures. He might be tiny, but he can perform unique actions depending on which abilities Kirby has. If Kirby has the "Ice" Copy Ability, he can attack by spitting out an icy blast of shaved ice.
Kirby can control Pitch like an RC toy with the "Spark" Copy Ability, and use Pitch as a boomerang with the "Cutter" Copy Ability. |
