|“||Battles in the Air are brewin', but if you have Coo, you'll be OK. Nruff and Nelly will be waiting for you.”|

Nelly is a small boar-like animal who is the offspring of Nruff. Nelly first appeared in Kirby's Dream Land 2 alongside its mother as the bosses of the second level in the game, the Big Forest. During the battle, multiple Nellys would charge around the stage and plow into Kirby. Kirby could inhale them and shoot them back at Nruff to defeat her. In Kirby: Right Back at Ya!, Nelly appears with Nruff as minor characters. The two live happily in Acore's roots.
Nelly is a small boar who bears much resemblance to its larger, stronger counterpart, Nruff. It has spiky brown fur with small white stripes running across its back. Its sports no visible ears and unlike Nruff, always has its eyes open.
While Nelly only appeared as a one-time character in the games, Nruff's current depiction has elements of Nelly imbued into their design. They have Nelly's stripes and small-stature, but retains Nruff's ears and eyes.
Nelly is based on an infant or juvenile wild boar. In their youth, boars have stripes on their sides that disappear as they enter adulthood.
- Nruff and Nelly appear as one collectible keychain in Kirby: Triple Deluxe. The pair use their sprites from Kirby's Dream Land 2.
- The official Kirby Twitter's illustration for Mother's Day 2019 depicts Nruff as the mother of Nelly.
