Mumbies Madness (Mr. Curio's Secret Treasure? in Japan) is the eighty-fourth episode of Kirby: Right Back at Ya!. It features Mumbies and explains how old Meta Knight is (in the Japanese version only).

Synopsis

During the middle of the night, Professor Curio unearths a jar. The next day Tuff and the other Cappy kids notice something different about Curio, as he seems to be hiding a secret. The same night, Curio releases the dreaded Mumbies from its prison. Mumbies goes on to attack the citizens of Cappy Town before finally finding its true target: Kirby.

In the beginning of the episode, Torkori wakes up Kirby in the middle of the night. Torkori tells him that there is a weird noise in the fog and he wants him to go check it out, while Torkori gets some sleep. kirby walks in the woods and sees a giant hole on the ground. A diggingnoise comes out from the hole. Kirby silently checked it out. He sees Professor Curio digging out a stone jar. Kirby makes a sound, which made Professor Curio to turn around. Professor Curio was seen with strange green eyes and tells Kirby to leave immediately. His eyes scared Kirby, that made Kirby run away fast. The stone jar's seal was broken and Professor Curio was laughing evilly.

In the morning, Kirby was sleeping on a rock, while Tuff, Spikehead, and Iroo were playing soccer. Tuff tells Kirby not to sleep for the whole day and told him that they need a goalie. Professor Curio pulling something strange on the cart. Spikehead and Iroo were trying to get the soccer ball, where they kicked Kirby by accident. Kirby landed on Professor Curio. Tuff wants to help Professor Curio, but he kept him out from helping him. Professor Curio goes away, and Tuff wonders what's going on with him.

At night in King Dedede's Castle, Tiff asked why would Professor Curio act so mean. Tuff said that he might be hiding some kind of artifact. Sir Ebrum asked if Professor Curio was up to some plan. Tiff told Tuff that he is spreading rumors. Tuff kept talking about Professor Curio. Lady Like told him to stop, but Tuff kept talking about the artifact that Professor Curio wants to keep for himself. Tiff told Tuff that Professor Curio cares about knowledge besides treasure.

At Professor Curio's museum, he opens the jar. The Mumbie came out and starts to scare Cappy people. It went to Chef Kawasaki's restaraunt first and scares Kawasaki. Next, it went off to Gus's house, who is watching a show in Channel DDD. Gus opens his window and the Mumbie scares him right in front of him. Then Gus fell backwards. Mabel wakes up from her nightmare she had and she looks at the window, then the Mumbie scared her(Japanese version only.) It scared few more people and went to Torkori's house. It broke his window and Torkori wakes up thinking it wants him. Instead, it wants Kirby and it bites on him. Kirby fell down and the Mumbie went off his face. The Mumbie floats up and tries to bite Kirby. Torkori leads Kirby the way out, then he went to get some sleep.

Kirby keeps getting chased by the Mumbie. The Mumbie tries to bite him several times, then he starts to shoot beams at Kirby. Kirby runs to the end of the woods and he sees Kabu. The Mumbie shot a beam at him and Kirby fell off the cliff. The Mumbie floats down to find Kirby. He finds Kirby on the right of KAbu and shoots a beam at him. Kirby gets injured badly, which made a chance for the Mumbie to bite him. It carry him on midair, while the sun was rising. The Mumbie drops Kirby on the ground. Kirby float saftely down to the ground. Kabu warns Kirby to be careful because that monster will not stop attacking him. The Mumbie runs back into his jar and sleeps, while Professor Curio was shocked by the Mumbie.

Tiff was suprised that a monster was trying to swallow Kirby when Torkori told her about it. Tuff was worried that Kirby was hurt. Torkori said that he was fine when he went back to bed. Tiff got mad and went to look for Kirby. Kirby walked right in t=front of the door. Kirby was happy, then he falls asleep. Tiff rolled him over if he was okay. Torkori suggest he needs some first aid and he will back to normal, but Tiff and Tuff didn't seem to agree. Torkori kept laughing, while Kirby kept sleeping.

All the Cappy people start to talk about the monster that was haunting the town. Chief Bookem asked how did it looked like. Kawasaki said it had teeth and Gus said it was wrapped up like a mummy. Spikehead and Honey were scared when they heard the word mummy. Tuff asked Professor Curio if he saw the monster, but Profesor Curio swears. Chief Bookem asked if he saw the monster, but he backs up and runs away.Escargoon said to King Dedede that their plan is working Kirbily. And they start to laugh.

At the evening, Tuff, Spikehead, and Iroo sneak in at Professor Curio's museum. The front door was locked. Tuff went on the side of the museum and saw a broken window. So they climbed in and searched around the museum. Tuff finds a book on the table. Spikehead said to Tuff that he heard a noise down the staircase. They walk down and {C Tuff hears a sound in the bookshelf. Tuff finds a hidden handle and switches it. The bookcase moved sideways and led them into a secret passage. They open the door on the ground, where they find Professor Curio making a strange purple chemical, where the children started to get scared.

At Torkori's house, Kirby was seen sleeping all day long. Tuff comes out and told that Professor Curio was up to something. Tiff thought that it was another joke, but Tuff shows a book that roves that this was not a joke. Tiff reads it and it said that Mumbies are good-luck monsters. Whoever finds it will become rich and it belongs underground where many fabulous treasures are buried. Torkori realize that was the monster that went in his house. It was also the monster that everybody saw. Tiff thinks Professor Curio was greedy. Tiff wants to know what was really going on and goes to Professor Curio's lab. Tuff said it's almost dark before the Mumbie rises. Torkori decides to stay and guard Kirby.

Tiff and Tuff se Professor Curio mixing the strange purple chemical. Tiff realize the Mumbie in the stone jar. Professor Curio was about to pour the chemical on the Mumbie, but Tiff stops him. Tiff thinks it is the work of King Dedede. Tuff climbs on the ladder and the ladder starts to topple and knocks the stone jar into the floor. The Mumbie was on the loose again! Professor Curio said he accidently open the seal of the stone jar. Tuf said that Mumbies bring good luck. Meta Knight appears and saids that the book was full of lies and was made by King Dedede. Meta Knight tells the truth that after Mumbies are released, they start to exterminate Star Warriors. Professor Curio was actually trying to stop Mumbies. Meta Knight tells them they need to help Kirby quick.

Later on at Torkori's house, the Mumbie strikes again in their house, biting on Kirby. Torkori leads the way out. Kirby runs into a tree, making the Mumbie to fall. Kirby starts to run away from it. Tiff sees Kirby n danger. Kirby runs on a field of watermelons. The Mumbie tries to bite him twice, but bites a watermelon instead. The Mumbie can't find Kirby, so Kirby came out hiding from the watermelon. Kirby sees a watermelon and happily swallows it. The Mumbie catches him and shot a beam at him, which sent Kirby flying. Tiff tells the people to hurry. The Mumbie keeps shooting beams at Kirby. The Cappy people can't sleep from the annoying noise of Kirby and the Mumbie. Kirby runs back and the Cappy people ran away, so the Mumbie shot another beam at Kirby. Kirby gets trapped by the Mumbie. Tiff tells Kriby to attack it. Kirby focused on the Mumbie's eyes and falls down. Meta Knight said that if look at Mumbie's eyes, the person gets tired.

Kirby gets so tired, that the Mumbie had a chance to hit him around. Tiff tells Kirby to suck up the Mumbie. Kirby tries to inhale it twice and transform, but nothing happened. Kirby splits it out and keeps getting knocked around. King Dedede and Escargoon comes out in their car. Tiff blames King Dedede that he sended the monster so Professor Curio could find. Escargoon said that Kirby is finished. King Dedede then grabs a bomb and wraps it up with linen. Escargoon said that King Dedede is doing something wrong and tells him not to do it. King Dedede throws the bomb at him. Kirby inhales it and becomes Bomb Kirby! Tiff tells Kabu to send the Warp Star. King Dedede gets shocked. Kirby throws bombs at the Mumbie, while the Mumbie shoots beams at Kirby.

Kirby throws bombs backwardly, making the Mumbie hard to see. Kirby almost got the Mumbie with a big bomb, but the Mumbie bites on Kirby floats up into the air. The Warp Star catches Kirby and goes upward into the sky. They flew out of teh plannet, while the sun comes out. The Warp Star turns and faces torward teh sun. The sunlight was scorching the Mumbie. Kirby tried to pull the Mumbie off, but the Mumbie won't budge. Then the Mumbie dissapears into ashes. King Dedede was angry that their monster was destroyed. Kirby lands on the ground and falls asleep. Meta knight said there are more Mumbies out of this planet. Tiff and Tuff were sorry for doubting Professor Curio. In the end of the episode, Kirby was seen sleeping.

Changes in the dub

The ancient writing on the book and stone tablet are digitally airbrushed out in the dub.
Mumbies have a roar similar to a lion instead of a loud screaming sound.
The scene where the Mumbies spy on Mabel sleeping is removed in the dub for unknown reasons.
The writing inside the book explaining Mumbies is just scribbled lines instead of ancient writing.
