A spaceship has been sighted in this area. It sounds like a formidable vessel.

The Mothership is a mid-boss in the Kirby series, debuting in Kirby Mass Attack. It is owned and operated by the Space Oohroo.

Physical Appearance[]

The Mothership is an angular gray flying saucer. It has a purple underbelly with two landing gear legs and three portholes from which pointed blasters extend. The vessel's distinctive feature is its face. It has two slanted yellow eyes; horns; and a hexagonal mouth, comprising purple lips and six teeth. The mouth acts as an entry door.

Games[]

Kirby Mass Attack[]

The Mothership appears exclusively in Stage 10 of Volcano Valley. The Space Oohroo begin the stage by grabbing a switch, bringing it aboard the ship, and flying into space. The Kirbys need to hit this switch to unlock Stage 9, so they construct their own spaceship and pursue the vessel.

The Mothership's underside appears at the top of the Nintendo DS Top Screen, while the Kirbys and their spaceship's controls appear on the Touch Screen. This mid-boss is fought in three phases, but its weakness is the same in all three: The player must flick Kirbys into buttons to fire lasers from corresponding guns at the ship's blasters. When a blaster is not attacked for several seconds, it charges up and fires a beam. This deals one point of damage to the spaceship. The spaceship's health is determined by how many blueprint pieces the player acquired earlier in the stage, so a few attacks could potentially result in a Game Over.

In the first phase, the Mothership simply extends blasters to fire at the Kirbys' ship. In the second phase, it extends several blasters; the Kirbys must attack the long ones, as the short ones are decoys. In the third phase, the Mothership extends blasters, decoys, and umbrellas. Lasers that hit umbrellas are reflected back into the Kirbys' ship, damaging it.

After the battle concludes, the Mothership explodes into pieces. The Kirbys pursue the stolen switch, which is continued in Stage 11.
