Like Noos, Mopoos live in the clouds, but they fly out from underneath Kirby as he walks or flies nearby. Be very careful when you see either a Mopoo or a Noo—they tend to hang out together and don't announce their arrival.
— Description • Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards Official Strategy Guide (Prima)[1]

Mopoo is an enemy in the Kirby series, debuting in Kirby's Dream Land 3. It gives no Copy Ability when inhaled.

Physical Appearance[]

Mopoo is a white-and-blue sphere with a happy face and a white tail that is made up of smaller spheres. It usually hangs out in the cloud and snow levels.

Games[]

Kirby's Dream Land 3[]

Mopoo first appears in Stage 3 of Cloudy Park. It attacks by jumping out of the clouds and then falling back in.

Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards[]

Mopoo jumps out of the clouds moving either straight up/down or in an arc; three Mopoos can appear consecutively from the same location. In addition to regular Mopoo, Big Mopoo appears in Stage 2 of Shiver Star as a Room Guarder; in addition to summoning Propellers, two at a time and with up to three present, Big Mopoo dives in and out of the clouds either horizontally, vertically, or diagonally at 45° angles. It takes six hits to defeat (some Power Combos defeat it in three hits) and drops the stage's third Crystal Shard, which is encased in a box with an orange-and-yellow checker pattern that requires Needle Spark to destroy.

Kirby's Return to Dream Land and Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe[]

Mopoo first appears in the Stage 1 of White Wafers. Small puffs of white clouds indicate where Mopoo appears from. Mopoo can also appear in larger and smaller sizes.

Etymology[]

Mopoo's name comes from a Japanese onomatopoeia meaning "fluffy," もふもふ/モフモフ (mofumofu).

Trivia[]

  • The Prima strategy guide for Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards is flawed; it states that Noos attack Kirby by flying at Kirby and that they appear alongside Mopoos in the clouds; in reality, Noos do not appear in the clouds or any areas with Mopoos. On a similar note, the guide's description for as a peaceful creature that only appears in the clouds of Shiver Star is a closer fit to Mopoo (as 0² is the true main antagonist and not encountered on Shiver Star at all, but rather Dark Star).
  • Zebon and Mopoo are greatly similar in appearance in official artwork, aside from having different colors.
