Kirby Wiki

Moonlight Canyon is the twenty-fifth stage in Kirby and the Forgotten Land. It is the fourth stage of Originull Wasteland. It succeeds Alivel Mall (Staff Side) and precedes Collector in the Sleepless Valley,

General Information[]

When Kirby begins this stage, he will land near a cliff that he needs to scale. As he scales the natural staircase, he can find some Digguhs and Primal Awoofies. Near a ledge, Kirby can find a Gotcha Capsule in a barrel. At the top, Kirby may find a doorway that leads him to the inside of a tunnel. Directly ahead of Kirby lies a lightbulb, allowing him to use Light-Bulb Mouth. Up ahead is a locked door, but Kirby can use the light bulb in his mouth to illuminate a Solar-Panel Switch. The door leads to a chamber that has a narrow passage and several Ghost Gordos. The Ghost Gordos do not move from their spot until Kirby activates his light bulb close to their position, at which point they will quickly give chase. When Kirby deactivates his light bulb, they will retreat to where they were stationed originally. A few Gigatzos also appear here, firing down passageways Kirby must cross. Behind the second Gigatzo, Kirby can follow a path leading to an imprisoned Waddle Dee; Kirby must activate a rectangular, timed Solar-Panel Switch to summon a staircase that he can use to get up to the Waddle Dee and save him; the staircase takes around four seconds to disappear. Resuming following the main path, this leads to a segment where Kirby has to avoid collapsing pillars. After some more destroy a bridge, he must use the Solar-Panel Switch to the left to raise a replacement bridge. This bridge leads to a door that leads to the next area.

After Kirby leaves the tunnel, he will enter a room whose doors at the north end will open so he can escape. This leads into a canyon area where he must scale and traverse multiple pillars. The sky is also dark at this section of the level, and adventurous music plays. Mumbies make their lair here, and there is a Waddle Dee Prisoner at the south side of some Breakable Blocks nearby. After traversing past a few more pillars, Kirby will come across a ledge to the north that has a scissor-lift, which he can use to access a switch; this opens the path to a hidden area, where Kirby must use another scissor-lift to traverse across Breakable Blocks to reach a ledge. There is a Gotcha Capsule high up between two Gordo Bars, along with many Star Coins littered throughout the air. After discarding the scissor-lift to reach the ledge, Kirby must proceed along a path of Breakable Blocks featuring several Sleep Copy Essences that he must avoid. The path concludes with a Waddle Dee prisoner above the blocks. After exiting the room, the main path continues southeast, and loops back to the northeast; here, Kirby must avoid a falling pillar, then scale a cliff and enter the door leading to the next section. If Kirby floats to the platform formerly containing the falling pillar, he can interact with a sparkling spot which spawns a Gotcha Capsule.

When Kirby enters the final section of the stage, he must stretch around an archway that he can use as a glider, flying through a canyon with several obstacles, enemies, and Star Coin rings. A fifth Waddle Dee prisoner can be found here after a giant falling pillar, only accessible if Kirby goes through a hole on the right. Kirby will then land in an area that contains the goal at the north. A Gotcha Capsule can be found in a small opening under the upper platform, behind some crates. Farther north are three cacti; a Treasure Chest can be summoned to the east by walking in their midst, and it contains a few Star Coins. After collecting the treasure, Kirby may reach the goal to the left.

Missions[]

Italicized missions are hidden from view on the player's first playthrough.

  • Clear the stage: When Kirby clears the stage the first time, he will automatically rescue three Waddle Dee prisoners from the golden cage.
  • Save the hidden Waddle Dees: Five Waddle Dee prisoners can be found here, their locations being the following:
    • At the split path, Kirby must take the east path, where he will find a switch. Kirby must use the Light-Bulb Mouth to illuminate a timed Solar-Panel Switch to summon some stairs and climb up the flight within four seconds to get onto the platform where the prisoner is held.
    • After the bridge is replaced, this Waddle Dee prisoner appears on the bridge.
    • When the path heads south, Kirby will find this Waddle Dee prisoner on top of some collapsing blocks.
    • Kirby must use the scissor-lift to get to navigate a secret room (using a switch to open the way in) to the north of the fifth bend where the main path curves back south and then cross a bridge of collapsing blocks.
    • In the gliding section, this Waddle Dee prisoner can be saved by going through the right hole in the giant collapsing pillar before Kirby lands.
  • Remove 3 wanted posters: Kirby will find three Wanted posters that have his face crossed out in the following areas:
    • Just before Kirby enters the door to the tunnel, a Wanted poster can be found to the left.
    • Just before Kirby exits the tunnel, he can find another Wanted poster to the left on a side path.
    • During his trek through the area with the pillars, Kirby can find a third Wanted poster stuck to the side of the pillar just before the fifth bend.
  • Clear the secret room without falling: If Kirby can navigate the secret room without falling, he can save an extra Waddle Dee prisoner.
  • Find the treasure hiding by the cactus triplets: Kirby can inspect a glowing spot near three cacti north of the goal in the final area; doing so will reveal a Treasure Chest to the east with some coins leading to it. The chest itself contains extra Star Coins.

Blueprint[]

Kirby can find a Blueprint for the Twin Drill ability to the left of the first Wanted Poster, on a lower platform in the starting area. The Blueprint can be used to evolve the Drill ability at Waddle Dee's Weapons Shop.

Trivia[]

  • As Kirby makes his way through the dark tunnel, the background music becomes the theme that played in the dark room area of Invasion at the House of Horrors, albeit in an Arabian tone. This song is known as Pitch Black Valley.
