“ | This Cotta was designed with a can-do attitude. But it takes 30 Bzztbulbs to keep each one running, so it's not really all that cost effective. Plus, when it comes to fighting, its heart really isn't in it.” |
— Figurine description • Kirby and the Rainbow Curse |
Mecha Cotta is a mid-boss in the Kirby series, debuting in Kirby and the Rainbow Curse.
Physical Appearance[]
Mecha Cotta is a giant, robotic Cotta. It resembles a tan jar with a brown face and yellow eyes. It has cooling grates built into its back and a panel nailed to its front. The foe moves around on three wheels. Inside the robot's body is a gray mechanical skeleton.
Games[]
Kirby and the Rainbow Curse[]
Mecha Cotta appears as a mid-boss in the stage The Long-Lost Ruins and as a Challenge opponent in The Wild Red Yonder. It gradually drives across the ground, turning around when it hits a wall. To defeat the contraption, Kirby must uses Tap Dashes or Star Dashes to destroy its face, back, and rear. It takes four Tap Dashes to break the robot's face, two to break its back, and one to break its rear; alternatively, one Star Dash has the power to smash any of these parts. As Kirby destroys them, the sparking machinery that makes up Mecha Cotta's interior is exposed—Kirby takes damage if he touches it.
Mecha Cotta later appears for a few seconds aboard Bastron in the stage Back to the Battleship, though it is not fought. Unpainted parts of the machine can be seen embedded in Claycia's walls in the stage The Final Battle.
Etymology[]
Mecha Cotta's name is a combination of the words "mecha" (short-hand for "mechanical") and "Cotta" (which itself is short for "terracotta", a form of earthenware), referencing its appearance and robotic nature.
