A magic point is an item in the Kirby series debuting in Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe. They are found in the sub-game Magolor Epilogue: The Interdimensional Traveler. Magic points are mainly used to upgrade Magolor's Magical Skills. They are also used to keep score of the amount of magical points Magolor obtains throughout levels, awarding him a medal for his efforts.

Collecting Magic Points[]

There are five variations of magic points, their color and size representing their values. The player can hold up to 999,999 magic points.

Magic points are obtained in various ways: by collecting them scattered throughout an area, by defeating enemies and bosses, by racking up a combo, by protecting magic bulbs, and by clearing a stage for the first time. If the player exits a stage, they will keep any magic points that were earned.

In the Hub Area[]

Magic points can be found in various places of the hub area. Once these magic points are collected, they will not respawn.

Ordeal Doors[]

Ordeal Doors are the most ideal way to quickly rack up a ton of magic points as they are typically short challenge stages that test Magolor's abilities at certain levels. Each Ordeal Door has a set amount of magic points Magolor can earn, however Magolor can earn more if he can manage a combo. The table below lists the maximum amount of magic points Magolor can earn, not including any combo bonuses unless necessary.

Defeating Enemies[]

Defeating enemies, mid-bosses, and bosses will drop various amounts of magic points depending on how large the enemy is. An upscaled regular enemy will typically drop at most 12 magic points; glowing red enemies at most 30; and mid-bosses at most 130.

Each boss has a set amount of magic points rewarded upon defeat.

Many Key Dees carry magic points and are automatically given to Magolor if he manages to defeat a Key Dee holding one. If a Key Dee is defeated before Magolor gets to it, the magic point being held disappears.

Combos[]

Strike enemies with multiple hits in a row to build up a combo and earn even more magic points. Get points, and aim for a Platinum ranking!

When Magolor consecutively hits an enemy or breakable block, he will starts a combo. The more attacks he lands without taking damage in a certain amount of time, the higher the combo count goes. Combos are not affected by any enemy projectiles.

If Magolor takes damage (the only exception being when he touches a defeated mid-boss) or the combo time ends, he will be rewarded with a certain number of magic points. The combo counter maxes at 999, but the reward limit of 3,200 magic points caps at 920. Receiving magic points does not increase the number on the combo counter, however by doing so, the combo time resets extending the combo. Magolor can extend this combo time by upgrading his Trickery to levels 2 and 5. Combos are also kept when Magolor goes through doors.

Combos are recorded and viewed at the end of a stage. How long a combo is does not count toward a Platinum medal, however long combos are necessary to reach the Platinum goal.

Magic Bulbs[]

Magic bulbs are round containers of magic points that are found in a few stages, introduced in Stage 2 of the Pyred Dimension. They have four blue magic points circling within some liquid. Each time the bulb takes a hit, it gets a short amount of invincibility, however, after two hits, one magic point vanishes, the some liquid is drained, and will form cracks. When the magic bulb takes a total 8 hits, it will create an inescapable explosion causing Magolor to lose roughly 25% of his health. The less damage the bulb has at the end of a gauntlet, the more magic points Magolor receives.

First Time Clears[]

When Magolor clears a stage or Ordeal Door (including the hidden HAL Room) for the first time, he is rewarded with a large amount of magic points. This does not include the introductory stage.
