Kyuin is an enemy in the Kirby series, debuting in Kirby Mass Attack.

Physical Appearance

Kyuin is a creature that resembles a short vacuum tube. It comes in three colors: green, purple, and red.

Games

Kirby Mass Attack

Kyuin appears exclusively in Stage 2 of Sandy Canyon and Stages 6 and 10 of Dedede Resort. Green Kyuin periodically sucks in water. If a Kirby gets too close to it and is sucked in, he is KO'd and spat out. Purple Kyuin periodically does the opposite and expels water, pushing away any Kirbys that get near it. Red Kyuin can use both techniques.

When attacking, an arrow symbol appears on the enemy's body, indicating which attack the creature is using. Kyuin is invincible and must be avoided.

Etymology

Its name, キューイン (Kyūin), comes from the Japanese onomatopoeia of a machine—typically ones that spin—working, キュイーン (Kyuīn).

Trivia

  • Green Kyuin's attack is similar to the attack used by Shellmic, an aquatic enemy that appears earlier in Kirby Mass Attack. Unlike Shellmic, Green Kyuins do not hide, nor can they be defeated.
