This little dark creature will home in on Kirby and make a kamikaze run at him. A quick move to the B Button will take care of him, though.
— Description • Nintendo Power (Volume #39)

Koozer is an enemy in the Kirby series, debuting in Kirby's Dream Land. It yields no Copy Ability when inhaled.

Physical Appearance

Koozer is a strange enemy resembling a crow. His body seems to be covered in either dark purple feathers or skin (though Koozer was black in his original artwork). He has rosy cheeks and a vacant expression on his face (due to the fact that Koozer is cross-eyed). Koozer has elements of both insects and birds, as he has paper-thin translucent insect wings, yellow shoes and a pale yellow beak.

Games

Kirby's Dream Land

Koozer serves as the Extra Game equivalent of Bronto Burt, appearing in Green Greens. He not only flies faster than Bronto Burt but also inflicts two points of damage if he hits Kirby. Koozer occasionally tries to home in on the pink puff as well.

Kirby Super Star Ultra

Koozer appears in Purple Plants in the Revenge of the King sub-game. Koozer often travels in a flock of other Koozers and rushes Kirby, a behavior it copies from some Bronto Burts. This is seen in the opening cutscene for Purple Plants, where Koozers, along with another crow-like enemy, Croucars, appear in a large group and rush him.

Despite retaining its speed, Koozer is far less threatening in this game; Kirby does not have a regimented health bar, and Koozer's damage was not adjusted to compensate for the change.

Trivia

  • Although Koozer yields no ability when swallowed, a non-canon German comic called Kirby and the Mystery of the Slime featured Kirby inhaling a Koozer, which granted him flight.
  • Koozer appeared in the Japanese commercial for Kirby's Adventure, despite not appearing in the actual game, implying that at some point, Koozer was planned to be in Kirby's Adventure but was scrapped.
