Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards is a web game in the Kirby series. It was published by Cartoon Network on their website in the year 2000 in order to promote Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards for the Nintendo 64.
Gameplay[]
The game is a simple matching puzzle, where the player has to click the Star Blocks presented on-screen to uncover and match promotional artwork of characters from Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards. If the player successfully makes a match, the characters will disappear and grant them a Crystal Shard, but if they're unsuccessful, the characters will return inside the blocks. There is no time limit nor a way to get a Game Over.
The characters that can appear in the tiles are Waddle Dee, Adeleine, Ribbon, and Kirby himself, who has the most images.
Once the player matches all of the images, a jingle will play followed by a short tune, indicating the end of the game.
Trivia[]
- The game would've awarded the player with downloadable prizes upon completion. The page that the player would've been redirected to when completing the game has been archived, but not the rewards.[1]
- Despite appearing in the original game and having multiple pieces of artwork available, King Dedede is completely absent from this game.
- This is the only web game in the Kirby series to have been published by Cartoon Network.
- It's also the only web game to have been developed for Adobe Shockwave.
