In the Kirby series Kirby isn't the only member of his kind. There is no official name for Kirby's species, though.

Biology

Just from looking at Kirby, we can tell they can spit things out as stars or copy enemies' abilities (or even drop them at will). The odd thing is that Meta-Knight, who looks like a Blue Kirby, is never shown to have these abilities, leading to tons of fan questioning and speculation that has not been confirmed.

Other terminology

Some people don't think Kirby's species are called Kirbys or Batamon, as some people believe. Less controversial terms include puffballs and creampuffs. Why? Maybe something like this:

Quote (user from another website)

Given this naming scheme that apparently exists, what do we call these? All of the "Kirby's," as you call them, which is actually grammatically incorrect, are the same color: pink. So do they all have the same name, as you believe? Twenty-six different people named Kirby? No, that would be terribly confusing, and we sure wouldn't know if we've been controlling the same person throughout all of the games. And there's no doubt that we have. So they simply cannot all be named Kirby.

Also, they shouldn't be called "Kirby's," grammatically correct or not. Besides, why would they name the whole of their species after one specific person? Kirby is a young boy, according to the instruction booklet of Kirby's Dream Land. Therefore, it can be assumed that Kirby's species has existed before Kirby's lifetime, and therefore has not always, if ever.

Quote (another user but same website as the one above)

There's no official name for Kirby's species. Some say it's "Batamon," but from what's been seen of those things in the games, it's difficult to tell whether they're actually the same species as Kirby or not.
