Kirby's Block Ball, known in Japan as カービィのブロックボール (Kābī no Block Ball, meaning Kirby's Block Ball), is a Breakout-style game for the Game Boy. Kirby's Block Ball was a test to most Kirby fans, to see if they would play the Kirby games, no matter what type of game they were. As it is a spin-off, it strays away from the normal Kirby platforming style.
Info & Levels
In each level, Kirby bounces around in a stage filled with blocks and enemies. When Kirby collides with a block or enemy, it is KO'd. When enemies are attacked, and KO'd, they transform into a treat, which give bonus points. The player moves onto the next level, when the blocks and enemies are all cleared. There are 11 levels (if the player is able to complete all the borderlines) to master, including items/power-ups that can take your ball and split it into two, bombs, etc. Several copy abilities appear, which support Kirby in beating the levels.
Gameplay
Kirby bounces around a field littered with blocks and enemies. He can destroy the blocks and enemies by touching them. The object of the game is to keep Kirby in play by bouncing him against four paddles on the top and bottom, and left and right sides of the screen. When all blocks are eliminated, Kirby moves onto the next level. Enemies destroyed by Kirby are turned into tasty treats, which give the player bonus points if obtained. There are also several copy abilities to be found if Kirby hits certain enemies, which aid him in destroying blocks.
