“ | Kactis roll toward Kirby as soon as he enters their territory. They can't fly or jump, so you can avoid them with a simple hop.” |

Kacti is an enemy in the Kirby series, debuting in Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards. It gives the Needle ability when inhaled.
Physical Appearance[]
Kacti is a green, plus-shaped cactus with tiny, black eyes and a happy, open mouth.
Games[]
Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards[]
Kacti either bounces up and down or waits for Kirby to come by to roll around and try to hit him. Big Kacti also appears as a Room Guarder in Stage 1 of Rock Star; it bounces in place and summons two regular Kacti at a time, one that stands and rolls and one that jumps; defeating a Kacti causes Big Kacti to summon another that has the other behavior. Big Kacti takes four hits to defeat and drops the stage's second Crystal Shard when defeated.
Etymology[]
Kacti is a stylization of "cacti," the plural of cactus, which Kacti's design is based on.
Its Japanese name, サボン (Sabon), is derived from the Japanese word for cactus, サボテン (saboten).
Trivia[]
- The Prima strategy guide for Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards is flawed; it states that Kactis can't jump, even though a number of Kactis can, in fact, only jump.
- Kacti yields the Needle Copy Ability when inhaled, but it appears physically to have no thorns protruding from it, unlike a real cactus.
- When Kirby throws Kacti from overhead, it will spin like a cartwheel, unlike most other regular enemies, which spin sideways as they travel.
