The Jigsaw Jumble series is a series of web games made for Nintendo of America's Play Nintendo microsite. It was developed and published by Nintendo, with each game serving to promote a video game. Jigsaw Jumble puzzles were created for five games in the Kirby series: Kirby: Planet Robobot, Kirby Star Allies, Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn, Kirby Fighters 2, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Kirby's Dream Buffet, and Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe. The Kirby Fighters 2 puzzle was titled Kirby Fighters 2 Online Puzzle: Wrestler vs. Sword, while the Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Kirby's Dream Buffet, and Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe puzzles were titled Online Jigsaw Puzzle: Kirby and the Forgotten Land/Kirby's Dream Buffet/Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe.

Gameplay[]

This game is a basic jigsaw puzzle. After choosing a difficulty setting, the player is given the pieces—eight pieces for Easy, 18 for Medium, and 50 for Hard. Fitting pieces must be dragged together to conjoin. A timer in the lower right-hand corner tracks the player's time during play. Two of the other corners contain helpful tools: The dropdown Menu button in the upper right-hand corner, which occasionally is split into several buttons on the HUD, serves several functions: It allows the player to expand the puzzle to full-screen size, shuffle the pieces around, and reset the puzzle completely. A button in the lower left-hand corner brings up a reference of the final image when clicked, providing the player with a guide. The Edges Only button in some puzzles removes pieces that do not form a perimeter, allowing the player to construct the border before connecting middle pieces.

When the puzzle is finished, the lines between the pieces fill in and star patterns flash across it. A message then appears, which varies from version to version:

  • Kirby: Planet Robobot Jigsaw Jumble says "You really kicked bot on this puzzle! Think you can beat your score?"
  • Kirby Star Allies Jigsaw Jumble says "Kirby’s ready for action! Think you can beat your fastest time?"
  • Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn Jigsaw Jumble says "You're totally epic! Think you can beat your best time?"
  • Kirby Fighters 2 Online Puzzle: Wrestler vs. Sword says "Puzzle defeated! You took on this puzzle challenge and came out on top. You can take on other exciting challenges in the Kirby Fighters 2 game, available exclusively for the Nintendo Switch system."
  • Online Jigsaw Puzzle: Kirby and the Forgotten Land says "You are truly amazing! You can float off on an all-new adventure as the powerful puffball in the Kirby and the Forgotten Land game, available now only for the Nintendo Switch family of systems."
  • Online Jigsaw Puzzle: Kirby's Dream Buffet says "Sweet success! You can experience the sweet thrill of victory in the Kirby’s Dream Buffet game, available now exclusively for the Nintendo Switch family systems."
  • Online Jigsaw Puzzle: Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe says "Way to go!

An adventure of deluxe proportions awaits in the Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe game for the Nintendo Switch family of systems. You can keep exploring to learn more!" The player's time is then given. The player can then retry and, in some versions, post the time to Facebook. The Kirby: Planet Robobot puzzle also shows an overview trailer for the game.
