“ | "Charge those points up, then…zing! Let 'em fly! Jabhog is famous in the new world for its spiky spines. They were short and cute when it was young, but they eventually grew into dangerous needles. It'll jab anything that gets too close, so approach with caution!"” |
— Capsule Description • Kirby and the Forgotten Land |
Jabhog is a large enemy in the Kirby series, debuting in Kirby and the Forgotten Land. It gives the Needle ability when Super Inhaled.
Physical Appearance[]
Jabhog is a large, hedgehog-like enemy covered in sharp purple quills. It has peach-colored skin, small ears, large paws, golden eyes, and a pronounced snout with a rosy nose and cheeks.
Games[]
Kirby and the Forgotten Land[]
When Jabhog sees Kirby, it extends its quills into massive spikes that protrude all around it. It then begins slowly crawling towards Kirby in an effort to damage him with its spikes; after a while, it retracts its quills for a moment.
Jabhog is invulnerable to Kirby's attacks when its spikes are extended, but some Mouthful Mode attacks can still damage it in this state.
Etymology[]
"Jabhog" is a portmanteau of "jab," a sharp poke, referencing their form of attack; and "hedgehog," the animal it resembles.
Its Japanese name, ニードホッグ (Nīdohoggu), is a portmanteau of "needle," ニードル (nīdoru); and "hedgehog," ヘッジホッグ (hejjihoggu).
