This whole place was designed to be a Kirby trap.
— N.M.E. Sales Guy • Scare Tactics - Part II

The Haunted Mansion is an ominous building that was delivered by Nightmare Enterprises in the two-part Kirby: Right Back at Ya! episode Scare Tactics. The place is littered with monsters and ghostly creatures as well as traps of different kinds and other scary things.

This mansion appeared out of nowhere on a hill near the cemetery just outside the forest where the residents of Cappy Town hold their annual Spook Out competitions. A storm broke out just as Kirby, Tiff, and Tuff had located their buried grand prize for making it through the forest unspooked during the competition, forcing them to seek shelter in the mansion itself. Unbeknownst to them, the mansion was designed by N.M.E. to be a trap to catch Kirby, only for it to be nearly spoiled by King Dedede and Escargoon's bumbling nature when they arrived at the mansion as well. After surviving many tricks and traps, Kirby and friends headed to the basement where the king and N.M.E. planned to capture Kirby and upload him to Nightmare Enterprises using a special Monster Transmitter found there that acted as an altar. The plan was foiled by Meta Knight's timely intervention, so the N.M.E. Sales Guy sent Gabon to attempt to drag Kirby to Nightmare's Fortress by force. A torch thrown by Meta Knight gave Kirby the Fire ability, which he used to burn Gabon to a crisp and burn the mansion down as well.

Description

The Haunted Mansion resembles an old dilapidated building similar in structure to a Western 19th century villa. Its interior appears to be much larger on the inside than on the outside, enabling it to defy the laws of physics and suggesting the mansion's interdimensionality. A magical force reinforces its entrance, causing anyone who enters the mansion to be locked inside with no way out. Said door is able to withstand a strike from Galaxia, but the spell induced on it won't work if it's slightly open.

Two ghostly residents appear inside the Haunted Mansion; the Particle Ghost and Sharbon. Also contained inside the mansion itself are an endless stairway that bats fly around, as well as an altar that drips with blood, a room full of mechanical and noisy clocks, a bedroom and bathroom, and a basement that contains a dungeon. Said dungeon also contains a decorated shackle that King Dedede uses to lure Kirby there, as well as a Monster Transmitter disguised as an altar and a television screen that the N.M.E. Sales Guy can use to communicate with others.

Hmm... I wonder who could be behind this nonsense? Take me to this...haunted house.
— Meta Knight • Scare Tactics - Part I
Unknown to the Cappies, King Dedede and Escargoon had taken over the spook-out, and were using it to run their own ghastly games. None of their tricks stopped our three friends, however, as they reached the graveyard where the spook-out prize was buried. Kirby celebrated with a victory dance, but the trio's triumph was short-lived when a sudden storm broke out, catching them by surprise, and forcing them to seek shelter in a mysterious and menacing mansion. As our heroes walked through the door, they didn't realize they were crossing the threshold of terror, and that fearsome forces were lurking in the shadows ready to blow them away or shut them in forever. Now the fear factor's out of control as Kirby and his friends find themselves locked in a real-live horror show!
