The Game Boy Color is a series of handheld consoles that were produced by Nintendo. It succeeded the Game Boy and was succeeded by the Game Boy Advance, although some consider it to be a revision rather than a successor.
The Game Boy Color is part of the Game Boy product family line. It is essentially an upgraded version of the Game Boy with its most prominent feature: a color screen instead of a monochrome one, however this screen is not backlit.
Controls[]

Just like the Game Boy, the Game Boy Color's front face has a screen on its upper half and its controls on its lower half: a directional pad on its left, Select and Start buttons at its lower center, and the A and B button on its right. Unlike the Game boy, the Color has its power slider on its right and its cable port and volume wheel on its left. The port allows players to connect to each other's Game Boy family line members with a link cable to play multi-player games. This feature is used for VS mode in Kirby's Star Stacker which is the only game in the Kirby Game Boy family collection to support local multiplayer.
Games[]
As the Game Boy Color is part of the Game Boy, it is backwards compatible with all original Game Boy games.

The Game Boy Color supports up to 12 built-in color palettes for most original Game Boy games. By inputting a certain button combination during the Game Boy Color screen when the user starts up the console, they gain access to these palettes. Kirby's Dream Land, Kirby's Pinball Land, and Kirby's Dream Land 2 all supports these unique palettes.
Below is the list of palettes used by the Game Boy Color that are activated via its respective button input. For the full hexadecimal and palette configuration for these colors, see the above link to The Cutting Room Floor.

Most games in that are supported with these color palettes also receive a unique default palette. The three aforementioned Kirby games plus Kirby's Block Ball are also part of said select games; of these four games, Kirby's Pinball Land is the only game to have a different default palette than the other three. These palettes can also be found in the link to The Cutting Room Floor.

When the Game Boy Color released (as well as the Game Boy Light), the link port's size was changed slightly meaning that previous Game Link Cables that were compatible for the Game Boy and/or the Game Boy Pocket were incompatible for the Color. Thus, Nintendo also released the Game Boy Color Game Link Cable and a Universal Game link Adapter so players could connect a Color to previous Game Boy consoles. All of these cables are compatible with Kirby's Star Stacker.
Newer generations of the Game Link Cables would also be made for the Game Boy Advance and Game Boy Micro with certain respective Kirby titles being compatible for them.

Trivia[]
- The Game Boy Color is infamously known for predating the Wii for utilizing motion controls with Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble, however the console itself does not have any gyroscopic mechanics within it; the cartridge for Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble has built-in accelerometers that allows the console to act as a motion-controlled device. Because of this, the Kirby Tilt 'n' Tumble cartridge has a unique shape than other Game Boy Color Game Paks.
