“ | The arctic cousins to Burnises, Frigises primarily inhabit Shiver Star and drop chunks of ice on Kirby as he walks underneath. As with Burnises, you must jump and inhale them as they fly by, rather than dodge their ice chunks on a ground filled with obstacles and enemies.” |
— Description • Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards Official Strategy Guide (Prima) |
Frigis is an icy, white, bird enemy that appears in Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards. Frigis gives the Ice Copy Ability when inhaled. Frigises appear in a mid-boss battle in Stage 1 of Shiver Star against a giant Chilly. These creatures also re-appear on Ripple Star in one of the rooms in one of the planet's levels along with other enemies. Frigises, like Burnises (another bird-like enemy based on a traditional element, in this case fire), are destroyed when they make contact with a solid object, such as a wall or rock.
Attack[]
Like Burnis, Frigis will attempt to sky-dive into Kirby and try to hit him, but unlike their Burning counterpart, it drops blocks of ice from above on Kirby as it flies by, which can cause harsh damage (like fire or electricity, the ice will turn Kirby a different color and stun him longer than a regular damaging enemy attack would), and like Burnis, if it bumps into a wall, it will plummet to the ground and be defeated.
Etymology[]
Frigis comes from the words frigid, meaning cold, and the suffix -is that both it and Burnis have in their names.
Trivia[]
- Snowl from Kirby's Return to Dream Land greatly mimics Frigis' behavior.
