Fighters Points are earned for completing various criteria in Story Mode. Most frequently, Fighters Points are earned from the Battle Cleared criteria, but they are also obtained from the Boss Defeated criteria, as well as the Chapter Clear and First-Time Chapter Clear criteria, the latter being only obtainable once. When a Chapter is cleared, the player's score is also converted into Fighters Points. Story Mode is the most efficient method of earning Fighters Points.

Fighters Points are earned for completing various criteria in Single-Handed Mode. Fighters points are earned from the Difficulty Clear and First-Time Difficulty Clear criteria, the latter of which can only be obtained once per Copy Ability/Buddy. The player also earns Fighters Points for Battles Won, but they are only obtained after the player completes all nine rounds or leaves the mode.
