Fast-Flowing Waterworks is the tenth stage in Kirby and the Forgotten Land. It is the fourth stage of Everbay Coast. It succeeds Scale the Cement Summit and precedes The Tropical Terror.
General Information[]
This stage acts as the conclusion to largely water-focused stages, and as such tests the player's ability to navigate quickly-moving streams of water. At the beginning of the stage, Kirby starts in a concrete area covered with greenery. He can either continue along a path or drop straight down into a fast-moving river. If he continues along the path, he will fight a few Kabus and Walfs before reaching the end of the path, which contains a sand Awoofy sculpture. He is then forced to head into the river, which flows faster than Kirby can swim. There are many enemies along the river's path, most of which are Gordos, so Kirby should swim carefully. Once he reaches the end of this river, a door takes him to the next section of the stage.
The next section contains a small river which winds through a concrete path before leading to a ladder. The ladder takes Kirby up into an enemy gauntlet where he stands on a thin bridge suspended over water. After defeating every enemy, Kirby heads through a similar section to the beginning of this room. Destroying a nearby Bomb Block destroys a wall concealing a round-trip door. Entering the door puts the player in a room where Kirby must use Ring Mouth on a boat to quickly break through several walls and save a Waddle Dee. After discarding Ring Mouth and entering the round-trip door again, Kirby can proceed through the rest of this area. A Gotcha Capsule is hidden behind a metal object on the left side of the next door. Once collected, Kirby may enter the door to head into the next section.
Here, Kirby must use Stairs Mouth several times to unlock various rewards. First, he must leave stairs on a switch to unlock a Gotcha Capsule. To put the second set of stairs in place, Kirby must first activate a blue switch, which causes a platform that Stairs Mouth Kirby can walk on to rise from the water. He can then spit out the stairs along the platform and climb them to recieve a tin of fish. After this, the player can see three switches up ahead, with one of them requiring Kirby to use the previous staircase to press. The other two can both be pressed after bringing another staircase found behind several enemies and burning logs to a small pit. Placing the stairs on all three switches unlocks two Waddle Dees, and the player can enter the final section after rescuing them.
The final section contains more fast-flowing streams of water, where Kirby must activate switches to open paths leading to other water streams. The first room contains only a few enemies and the switch. The second contains a whirlpool in the center and a few Gordos, and the final room contains another whirlpool and Gordo Bars. Once finished with this room, Kirby can head through a small, flooded tunnel leading to a shore with the goal.
Missions[]
Italicized missions are hidden from view on the player's first playthrough.
- Clear the stage: When Kirby clears the stage for the first time, he will automatically rescue 3 Waddle Dee prisoners from the golden cage.
- Save the hidden Waddle Dees: 5 Waddle Dee prisoners can be found here, their locations being the following:
- At the end of the first river, under the second arch.
- In the Ring Mouth area, Kirby should go through the right, left, and center wall in that order to save the Waddle Dee before time expires.
- Found behind a gate in front of the fourth Waddle Dee, requiring Stairs Mouth Kirby to deposit the stairs on a switch.
- Found behind a gate behind the third Waddle Dee, requiring stairs to be deposited on two switches.
- Floating far above the center of the second whirlpool in the final section; Kirby must press a switch found on a ledge on the right wall to create a bridge leading to the Waddle Dee.
- Eat 3 Tins of Fish: Several tins of fish are hidden throughout the level, which Kirby must eat. Their locations are:
- Spawned by a sparkling spot in the far-right corner after the first river ends.
- Behind burning logs at an area requiring Stairs Mouth Kirby to get to.
- Floating around the first whirlpool in the final section of the stage.
- Win the battle without falling into the water: If Kirby completes the enemy gauntlet without falling off the bridge during the fight, the mission is completed. It is highly recommended to use the Bomb ability for its ability to defeat enemies in the water while staying on the bridge.
- Find the golden fish: At the start of the third section, a golden fish can be found in water to the right of the first staircase. Interacting with it causes it to scatter and spawn several Star Coins.
Blueprint[]
The Chain Bomb Blueprint can be found in a treasure chest after defeating the enemy gauntlet. The Blueprint can be used to evolve the Bomb ability at Waddle Dee's Weapons Shop.
Trivia[]
- Shortly after the enemy gauntlet, the player can find a sparkling spot on a triangular ledge. Touching it causes a blue Star Coin to fall from the sky.
