Extra Mode is a mode that can be unlocked in several games by completing the main game.

Kirby's Dream Land

Main article: Extra Game (Kirby's Dream Land)

In this game, Extra Game can appear in the game's menu after beating the main game. When this happens, it tells the player a special button combo to unlock it.

In Extra Game, there are several features that will differentiate itself from the main game:

  • Enemies do twice the damage or are faster, or are replaced by versions that do twice the damage.
  • Bosses may use Gordos as projectiles.

Kirby's Adventure

If the player beats the main game with 100%, they automatically gets this as an option in the menu.

In Extra Mode, Kirby has half as much health. Also, progress through the Extra Game won't be saved.

If Extra Mode is completed, the player is awarded with the Sound Test option in the menu.

Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land

Extra Game appears in this remake of Kirby's Adventure. Unlike the extra mode in Kirby's Adventure, progress is actually saved. Also, if the game is beaten, the Meta Knightmare sub-game will be obtained, where the player gets to play as Meta Knight in a nonsavable crash course of the game. The hard part is that he only gets three hit-points.

Kirby's Dream Land 3

Main article: Super NES MG5

The Extra Game here is called Super NES MG5, consisting of a complete re-run through all the Heart Star missions by Pitcher Man, Elieel, Caramello, Tamasan, and Chef Kawasaki.

Kirby: Squeak Squad

Unlike other games, the whole point of the Extra Game is to get all treasure chests as fast as possible. The game records how fast it takes, but the timer only runs while Kirby is in a stage. The score earned by completing the Extra Game will be saved onto a leader-board.

Kirby's Return to Dreamland

Ex Mode also returns in Kirby's Return to Dreamland, which can be unlocked after beating the main game. All the bosses and Mid-bosses all have EX at the end of their name (Ex. King Doo EX) and are harder to beat then they were in the Main Game.
