Players can use emotes in online play with a certain word appearing above Kirby for each input. These emotes can also be used during the transitions between modes in a Grand Prix as well as during the final results, although no messages will appear. When using an emote during Free Rolling, Kirby will position himself upright and stop all momentum.

“ | Taunt to discard your current Copy Ability. Find the most opportune moment to change your ability!” |
— Tips • Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U |
Taunting is a similar action to emoting in the Super Smash Bros. series. In Super Smash Bros. and Super Smash Bros. Melee, each character only has one taunt but in Super Smash Bros. Brawl onward, each character got three: an Up Taunt, a Down Taunt, and a Side Taunt.

Trivia[]
- The stickers in Super Kirby Clash were the first means of interacting with online players where emoting in Kirby's Dream Buffet would be the second.
- In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, due to Kirby's taunts being necessary to manually remove his Copy Ability if he has one, Kirby is the only character who is able to taunt in online play.
