This article is about the boss called Dyna Blade. For the sub-game of the same name, see Dyna Blade (sub-game). |
“ | A monstrous bird with white- and rainbow-colored bladed wings and huge talons. Challengers who face Dyna Blade are forced to contend with her speed and armor plating that can reflect any attack. The only weak point is her head. In Kirby Super Star, she's destroying Dream Land's crops, but there's apparently a perfectly good reason for this.” |

Dyna Blade is a boss in the Kirby series, debuting in Kirby Super Star.
Physical Appearance[]
Dyna Blade is an enormous, armored bird. She has a white body and wears red armor with yellow rims and has a blue stone on her chest. Her wings are rainbow-colored, going from red to green, each ending with white metal bladed tips (more gray-colored in the anime). Her head is red and has a yellow mohawk and green and blue feathers around her eyes and back of the head. She also has red and yellow tail feathers.
Games[]
Kirby Super Star and Kirby Super Star Ultra[]
Dyna Blade appears as the boss of the Dyna Blade main game, being fought in Stage 5: Dyna Blade's Nest. Dyna Blade has been disrupting the crops, so Kirby tries to stop her.
After reaching her nest, Dyna Blade flies in to fight Kirby, landing on either the right or left side of the arena. She can jump, either in place or to switch sides of the arena. She can flap her wings to hover above the ground briefly. She can blow flames from her mouth, either while on the ground or while hovering, blowing four normally or six at low health; these can be inhaled, but cannot be grabbed. Dyna Blade can quickly extend her head to headbutt the player. She can fly into the air and then swoop across the arena, grabbing anyone below her with her talons; anyone grabbed will be crushed in her grip before being let go. Dyna Blade can also take off into the sky and charge in from the background, much like when she initially appears; when at low health, Dyna Blade will briefly land back on the ground before flying away to do the charge. Any time Dyna Blade lands from flying or jumping, she produces a star on either side of her.
After defeating Dyna Blade, Kirby learns that she was just trying to feed her young Dyna Chicks. Afterward, Kirby feeds the chicks apples from Whispy Woods' branches and teaches them how to fly. After staying with Kirby, the chicks and Dyna Blade fly away as Kirby waves them good-bye.
In Revenge of Meta Knight, Dyna Blade appears at the end of Chapter 3 to return the favor and help Kirby get back to the Halberd, where she gets shot down by Combo Cannon's laser, but still manages to get Kirby on the deck of the battleship. Although she survives the attack, she is still badly injured and ends up plummeting back to the ground.
Dyna Blade reappears as a boss in The Arena, alongside all of the other bosses fought in Kirby Super Star.
In Kirby Super Star Ultra, Dyna Blade also cameos as a card in the Card Swipe sub-game. She additionally appears in Helper to Hero as the fifth boss and in Meta Knightmare Ultra at the end of the Dyna Blade level.
Kirby Air Ride[]
“ | The mystery bird Dyna Blade has appeared! Aim for his head!” |
— City Trial • Kirby Air Ride |
Dyna Blade appears in an event in City Trial mode. In the event, she lands in the City and serves as an obstacle for the players, but she can also be attacked (particularly in the head) to obtain some Patches. Dyna Blade may fly away and land in another spot if attacked, and will fly away for good during the event's conclusion. In City Trial's checklist, Dyna Blade has two boxes dedicated to her. One requires the player to damage her, and the other requires her landing on the player.
Kirby Mass Attack[]
Dyna Blade cameos in the Kirby Quest sub-game. She appears as an "Awesome" attack, hitting all enemies for 100 damage per pink Kirby.
Kirby: Triple Deluxe[]
Dyna Blade appears as a rare keychain, using her Kirby Super Star appearance, found in Stage 2 of Fine Fields.
Kirby Fighters Deluxe and Kirby Fighters 2[]
Dyna Blade appears as a hazard in the Dyna Blade's Nest stage, occasionally appearing to attack the players; both Dyna Blade and the stage are based on their Kirby Super Star Ultra appearance. Despite the 3D, polygonal nature of most of the game's graphics, Dyna Blade is represented with a 2D sprite. Although her attacks are the same as those she uses in Kirby Super Star Ultra, her animations and graphical effects have been updated to appear more smooth and detailed. If the players deal enough damage to Dyna Blade, she will be momentarily stunned and fly away afterward. However, like with Lololo & Lalala, she cannot be permanently defeated and can return to the stage.
Kirby: Planet Robobot[]
Dyna Blade's head appears as a sticker, using her artwork from Kirby Super Star.
Kirby Battle Royale[]
One of Sword's headgear, the Dyna Helmet, is based on Dyna Blade.
Kirby Star Allies[]
Dyna Blade can occasionally be seen flying behind Clash at Castle Dedede on World of Peace - Dream Land's world map; this was added in version 2.0.0.
Super Kirby Clash[]
Dyna Blade appears as a sticker, using her artwork from Kirby Super Star Ultra, that can be bought from the Shoppe for 20 Gem Apples. It displays the text "*flap*" when used.
Kirby's Dream Buffet[]
Dyna Blade appears as a Character Treat, using her sprite from Kirby Super Star.
In Kirby: Right Back at Ya![]
This section contains information that does not coincide with the main series canon. | |
Dyna Blade is a legendary ancient creature, revered for her mysticism. She lives on a tall peak far away from Cappy Town. Like in the games, Dyna Blade is extremely protective of her chicks, and will go out of her way to ensure their safety, and will willfully destroy anything in her way to do so. Her breath weapon is a cone of gale force wind, and she's known for her destructive speed.
Dyna Blade first appears in Kirby's Egg-Cellent Adventure. It is revealed by Professor Curio (who has history books containing vast amounts of info on her) that she appears every 100 years to lay an egg. When Kirby eats the egg (or so it is presumed), Dyna Blade reappears to take revenge on him. Everything is sorted out in the end though and Dyna Blade is tearfully reunited with her chick.
Dyna Blade also appears in The Empty Nest Mess and Waste Management, both of which revolve around her trying to save her chick from almost-certain doom. In the latter, Dyna Blade also faces off against Crowmon. Dyna Blade also make several cameos in the episodes Cappy New Year, Prediction Predicament - Part II, Kirby Takes the Cake and Air-Ride-in-Style - Part I, as well as several appearances in Tourist Trap and Waddle While You Work, the former of where she chases after the Tourists, and the latter of which she attacks King Dedede to save her chick when his hunger leads him to try to eat him.
Dyna Blade's final appearance is in Cappy Town Down, where she and her chick watch the Halberd rise into the middle of the six Destroyas.
Dyna Blade is one of the few characters to always appear rendered in 3D when on-screen.
In the Super Smash Bros. series[]
In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, she appears as both an unlockable trophy and a sticker. The trophy is obtained by completing All-Star Mode on Very Hard difficulty with any character. The sticker uses Dyna Blade's design from Kirby Super Star. The sticker improves Launch Resistance by 46 and is only usable by Kirby, King Dedede, and Meta Knight.
In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Dyna Blade appears as a primary, legend-class shield spirit. When applied to a fighter, the fighter's jumps will increase.
Etymology[]
Dyna Blade's name comes from the prefix "dyna-", which means "power"; and "blade", referring to her sharp wings.
