— Description • Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards Official Strategy Guide (Prima) |
Drop is an enemy from Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards. First appearing in the second stage of Neo Star, it hangs down from the ceilings of caves. A group of Drops also functions as a Room Guarder in that same stage. Drop yields no ability when inhaled.
Physical Appearance
Drop is an amoeba-like creature, much of its body consisting of what appears to be either blue protoplasm or water. The outside of its body has a dark blue outline, and the body itself is translucent. Drop possesses a spherical, red nucleus that remains near the top of its body when it is extended or in the middle when it is compressed.
Games
Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards
Before Kirby approaches, Drop is stationary, and clings to the ceiling. Once Kirby goes underneath it, however, Drop will elongate and attempt to fall onto Kirby. If it misses, the Drop will land stationary on the floor, and will try another method of attack. When Kirby comes close, the Drop will periodically elongate, attempting to catch Kirby as he jumps; on the other hand, Drop does nothing when Kirby is far away, rendering it harmless. When carried over Kirby's head, the Drop will collapse into water. In this respect, it is similar to Sandman.
Etymology
Drop is named after the word "drop." This may refer to Drop's shape: it possesses a droplet-like shape, and it may literally be a drop of water. Alternatively, it may refer to Drop's primary means of attack, which is dropping from the ceiling.
Trivia
- Dropsos, enemies from Kirby's Epic Yarn, and Pluids, enemies from Kirby's Return to Dream Land, closely resemble Drop.
