— Collectible description • Kirby Battle Royale |
Doctor is a Copy Ability in the Kirby series, debuting in Kirby: Planet Robobot.
Games[]
Kirby: Planet Robobot[]
Doctor focuses on using medical tools to attack, with its most basic weapon being bouncing pills. He can also attack using chemicals, medicine, bandages, and a clipboard. Its most unique attack, Science Lab, allows it to create various chemicals to damage enemies, although they are also useful for puzzles due to the elements made available. Doctor is also the base for the Doctor Healmore role in Team Kirby Clash. Doctor is obtained from the Chemitory enemy.
Techniques[]
Move | Controls | Description | Element | Damage |
---|---|---|---|---|
Bouncing Capsule | Press and release | Kirby throws a pill in front of him that bounces three times on the ground before being destroyed. Bouncing is random, and can be normal, high, or low. | None | 16, 12 (repeated capsules) |
Pill Bopper | Press and hold , and then release | Kirby throws out five pills, three in front of him and two behind him. The pills bounce one before being destroyed. Bouncing is random, and can be normal, high, or low. | None | 20, 14 (repeated hits) |
Science Lab | + hold extra long, and then release | Kirby gathers lab tools and creates a one of four possible compounds: one that unleashes a pillar of fire, one that freezes the air above, one that sends out six sparks of electricity, and one that can be drank to heal Kirby. What Kirby gets from the Science Lab is random, but they are color coded with their effects: red is fire, blue is ice, yellow is Flash Spark, and green is Remedy; Remedy can only be made if Kirby is not at full health. If the player releases B before Kirby is finished creating the compound, a small explosion occurs, which does damage and briefly stuns Kirby. Kirby is invincible when prepping and using the compound, but he is vulnerable when holding it. | Sizzle, Blizzard, or Zap | 8 (set-up), 16 (explosion) 24 (1st fire hit), 8 (repeated fire hits) 36 (1st ice hit), 3 (repeated ice hits) 26 (1st Flash Spark), 19 (repeat Flash Sparks) |

Trivia[]
- Doctor's physical appearance and pills are a reference to Dr. Mario, a character from the Super Mario series.[1]
- Doctor's Bandage Spin move could also be a reference to Dr. Mario's Dr. Tornado move from the Super Smash Bros. series.
- Doctor is one of the very few Copy Abilities that can heal Kirby, the others are Sleep (once the Ability Scroll for it is obtained) in Kirby: Squeak Squad and Kirby Battle Royale, the Ice Spark Power Combo in Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards, and Artist in Kirby Star Allies.
- The healing potion cannot be created in The Arena or The True Arena.
- Doctor is the only ability introduced in Kirby: Planet Robobot to not have a mid-boss that gives the ability.
- Prior to the release of Kirby: Planet Robobot, a fan-created "Dr. Kirby" with a similar appearance was featured in the gallery of a 2011 contest that resulted from a partnership between Nintendo and the Starlight Children's Foundation, where entrants could draw on a coloring page and create an original Super Ability. It is unknown if this design inspired the creation of Doctor. [2]
